I did a djm 2/3 drop, with regular bilstein 4600 shocks. I then substituted the 2" drop keys in the front for ebay 2" drop spindles and am running stock keys. I deleted the electronic shock feature and deleted the non working rear air lift compressor in favor of manual air lift air bags for...
I recently did my lowers per the youtube recommendation of heating them and hitting them with a mini sledgehammer, worked easy enough. Uppers I did with the ball joint service c clamp, meaning not "just" some average c clamp. They run about $80 for the setup, or you can rent them.
This is my thread and has some info on it.

Basically I had the electric shocks and rear load leveling. I used the ebay resistors and unplugged the autoride relay. Then I installed 4 normal bilstein 4600...
Also, here's one, same design, listed for 2wd, with no failsafe. Most other 2wd hubs have metal dust covers over the rear so I cant verify how they are assembled. I bet they are just like this...
So here is what I came up with. First this is not meant as a 100% failsafe, if your bearing fails bad enough for this (or your axle) to save you, you're Fu$ked anyway. The purpose of this is merely something that in the event of a complete failure may give you a little more time to pull off the...
My Timken hubs were 200 for the pair. Im not rebuying hubs, and I'm not putting used junk on my truck. And for the trouble of finding more axles I could just make something instead. I will update with my solution.
There were some differences in bearings over the years. Some you absolutely have to have the axle. I'm not denying that. It's hard for me to see our completely different experiences and think it's a fluke. In my mind there must be a concrete reason why mine has given me no issue in over a year...
I think that the driving forces from the axle would cause more stress on the bearing, Im thinking since the axle isnt rigid it would be constantly tugging the bearing in/out and up/down as you accelerate and let off. If the axle prevents separation during complete bearing failure, and my axles...
Thank you. Can you provide up close pics of the hub? Did you replace this hub or was it original? How did you go about not having an axle, did you actually remove it? Im wondering this because I did quite a bit of research at the time and lots of results were 50/50, Ive seen others fail too...
Dude you need to stop. You arent too versed in hubs I can tell because you probably have no clue that 1. these hubs changed a lot over the years and models, meaning don't expect identical results from everysingle make and model truck, and 2. lots of 2wd and 4wd hubs are THE SAME PART NUMBER...
Thanks for your reply. What hub EXACTLY was on your truck. I will not retract my advice/opinion that my particular Timken (bought last year) hub is fine because (listen carefully) the axle backside flange AND where it tightens in the front with the nut is connected to a solid block of metal (its...
Im excited to see how it does, I really like the 4600s in the rear so Im anticipating I will like them up front also. Though it should be noted this is a family and camaro hauler, and I definitely dont drive aggressive as far as cornering etc.
It really didnt ride bad with the keys lowered, I had no complaints. Lately the front has been slightly floaty (not bad) and I associate that with shocks that have 200k on them. It is currently running a 305 wide tire and this truck is definitely heavy. Yeah it would scratch it before, now I...
