    Mild 6.0L Build Suggestions?

Your manifolds look nicely restored. As long as they mate to head with the gasket you'll be fine. I think the speed engineering headers look good (future mod). Inexpensive for stainless and includes the cross over and flange. Engine stand wants to flip over? Most have a cylinder in the back...

Finally found a clean OBS 1999 Tahoe 4x4

Very Clean And especially clean interior. Those seats look very comfy....like the living room couch. I really like how the seat belts are separate from the seat....wish I had that. I had a blue one of those like 20+ years ago.....I remember towing a race car with it. Got pretty good fuel...

P0128 code. After 160 temp thermostat.

That's just a warning code. I run mine with a 160 and it runs much better. Cooler is better IMHO. With a 160 the coolant should run 175-185 You should see better fuel mileage at lower temps. More timing means less fuel means better mileage (not to start a debate). The computer automatically...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Well.....thats why I said "infamous TB coolant bypass" , meaning somewhat controversial. I've been racing since I was about ,OMG, 7 and anything you can do to reduce heat increases power and speed, IMHO. Take this car for example. It originally came with coolant flowing through the throttle...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

AAIgnition....LOL I have no idea. It didn't say made in china. Looked like a reman unit. The side box had bolts instead of rivets. Lifetime warranty though. Can't beat that. And it's clean. My old one was OMG filthy. I'll check the grounds. Thanks for the tip.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Today I put in a new throttle body.....Amazon $70. Says it has upgraded electronics and actuator for better throttle response and longevity. Longevity? LOL the first one lasted 18 years....and maybe it was bad. Computer was throwing a TPS code and went into reduced power mode...twice, I hate...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Still like $42 per on Amazon Amazon.com: MOOG RK80942 Control Arm and Ball Joint Assembly: Automotive I would like to find a piece with easily removable ball joints, So I don't have to remove the arm and get an alignment. Like this Suspension Lift Kits, Leveling Kits, Body Lifts, Shocks, Ford...

    Oxygen Sensor help........

BTW....I didn't see the codes it was throwing in the first post....was it just one? or both sides? Sometimes a vacuum leak/issue can trigger both codes. Big cams can cause vacuum issues.

    Mild 6.0L Build Suggestions?

Glad to see you're moving along and getting skilled input..... All this talk about engines makes me want to ditch my 6.0L build and go 6.6L I love TQ and strokers make a boatload. Even though there is absolutely nothing wrong with my current 5.3

    Dechroming with bedliner

So I wanted to give the old Tahoe an updated look by getting rid of the chrome grill and bumpers. I like the tough look of the bedliner material but I didn't know which to use. Since I bought a new grill and front bumper (because it was dinged up) I decided to test a few of the materials. I...

    Mild 6.0L Build Suggestions?

I agree with 1Bad I would throw that head away. If the other is fine then its fine. Just buy one head.....on ebay they are $200-250 remfg'd, done? Your corrosion or cause unknown could have been from overheating or boost or nitrous as the missing casting material is definitely into or very close...

01 Yukon brake master cylinder fix

One EASY item you may want to check is the little rubber seals under your brake fluid reservoir. Look to see if they are or surrounding area is wet, which could indicate a leak. And GENTLY wiggle the reservoir to see if leaks....... It should not even leak when wiggled under pressure.....either...

    Mild 6.0L Build Suggestions?

OK......Heads needed to be welded? Waterjackets? Some of those places you can't even get too. How many welds? If its more than 1 (and don't take this the wrong way) I would just throw those heads away. Aluminum is very delicate to weld on. How do you test their welds? Validation of repair work...

    Mild 6.0L Build Suggestions?

$700 to rebuild heads? and you supply the springs and not even CNC ported? No way. I'd shop around...... Maybe $400 if they put in new valves and you give them the springs. You're brave to build the engine.....I'm praying for ya. And progress is looking good!

8 or 10 speed automatic transmission

That would be the BOMB! The big issue is having the computer to run it, the 2001 won't. I would love that though Gen2 Tahoe/Yukon with 6.2 LT1 and 10 speed trans.....I'd buy that in a heartbeat. I wish GM would make a Connect and Cruise package in that combo that plugged in. They make an LT1...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

This is how things cascade with an older vehicle. My Tahoe is an 03 CA vehicle with part based oxidation and 18 year old rubber. Nothing I would call rust like some of the vehicles I've seen from the rust belt...... So I replaced a rear caliper today. Nice looking part from Oreilly's....$55...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Threw a 19 bench seat into the back of my 03 Tahoe....bolted right in. Even the seat belts hook up. My dog just can't get comfortable in the captains chairs. And easier to just throw sh*t back there and not have it end up on the floor.

    Mild 6.0L Build Suggestions?

Looking Good! You should plan on a set of long tube headers and free flow exhaust (doesn't have to be loud). That will help you with your plan to maximize TQ and fuel mileage.

    Mild 6.0L Build Suggestions?

I was referring to the heads, the 862 vs LS3......the volume of the intake runner of the head. Not the intake manifold. 200cc on the 862 vs 257cc on the LS3. Air travels faster through a smaller chamber, velocity. Better throttle response, more TQ at low RPMs. Trust me, I've done it both...

    Mild 6.0L Build Suggestions?

Nah....you're going the right way for your requirements. Small 317 heads will make more TQ at low RPM with a small cam....like around .500 lift......dual springs are kinda overkill. LS3 heads make less TQ at low RPM but ramp quickly after 3500 rpms.....but you need 60lbs of fuel pressure and are...

    04 Denali AWD to 2WD

Most folks just pull the front axles off and leave it at that. To delete axles, front diff and transfer case and swap to a 2wd trans is a lot of work. Less work would be to sell the AWD and get a 2wd.

    Mild 6.0L Build Suggestions?

I always just buy a long block to spec I don't have the tools or the skills to assemble an engine. I like to bolt in and tune. As an FYI, Engine Reman is in Glendale (not to far from you) Stock rebuilt long block 6.0L is $2800 and they'll put any cam in it or any heads (5.3 or 6.0) Good...

    Mild 6.0L Build Suggestions?

Hey! Just checking in.... I love 6.0L builds on tahoes.....every tahoe should have one. I've done two before and about to do another. Could you summarize your build? I think I gleened it out of the threads and it sounds like 6.0L build...... 6.0L block? or did you bore the 5.3? Stock crank...
