Gave it a bath since we hit rain on our way back from Billings over the weekend.
I'm going to hate driving a filthy vehicle when real winter hits but I'm not washing a car in temps anywhere near or below freezing.
Just gave it a bath and noticed another chip in the windshield. :(
Going to call the glass shop and make an appointment to have it repaired.
This windshield isn't even a year old.
From what I read from performance manufacturers, the entire mechanism only restricted flow and was mainly a mpg deal and not really a performance enhancement.
Without the assembly the car has a pending code for the system but it never throws a MIL so it still passes smog OK.
Removing it was...
Yours was the previous generation Altima, mine is the L31 platform that is basically a Maxima with different sheetmetal.
I have 250k on mine and it still runs perfectly.
Too bad Nissan quality went to crap when they were bought out.
My 2002 Altima has an adjustable intake manifold where a vacuum actuator opens and closes portions of the runners depending on engine load, rpm and other crap.
I removed that and just have a plate covering the hole where the actuator went.
Not a singe time I've had it smogged has any tech ever...
After reading a few past threads about block heaters and the codes that can be thrown when the temps are not cold enough for the ECU programming, I am debating about installing the OEM block heater and just getting one of those adhesive squares to heat up the oil pan when it gets really cold out...
I always kept the stock airbox handy for my Nissan since I had to smog it every two years and the WAI on it is not CARB compliant.
Only PIA for me was needing to start up and move my Pierce to get to the garage attic ladder.
Not likely since they would only plug into the car into the machine and see if there are any codes and to see if the system has passed all of its checks.
They do a visual check but no more sniff test, a sniff test should have given it away but not always.
I had a car that did not have a second...
Washed the Yukon in preparation fir the trip back to WY.
If I leave early enough I will just do the whole drive in one shot, about 16 or 17 hours.
I've done it in one shot about 3 times.
I have not had to use my CDL for work for decades, but I keep it because it was a pain to get and you never know when you may need it again.
If nothing else, I have peace of mind that when I tow one of my antique cars in an enclosed trailer I never have to worry about being overweight for my...
In my youth, only one vehicle was an automatic.
Everything else was a manual trans.
I still prefer to row through the gears.
Makes me feel more connected to the machine.
I have a CDL so I've driven 13 speeds, 18 speeds, 5 & 2s and all sorts of weird things with brownie boxes.
But, it's been...
Your situation is similar to mine with my 2002 Altima.
I bought it new and it now has 250k miles but it runs like a top and the AC blows super cold.
The car isn't worth much but I, too, would jump in it and drive it across the country in a minute.
It is tough to let something go that you know is...
I changed the oil even though it only had about 2,500 miles on it.
Figured it was needed since it got warm while I was pulling the moving trailer up long grades.
I noticed that when the temp went up the oil pressure dropped slightly so I knew the oil was getting thinned out due to the temps it...
