I used my Launch OBD II scanner and it came up with 3 codes related to the steering position sensor.
Those codes, combined with the fact that on initial startup, there are no errors on the DIC or the dash until the steering wheel is turned.
As soon as the steering wheel is turned at all, even...
It will be taken care of as soon as the part gets here. :D
Although it looks like a little bit of a PIA since it is way up under the dash.
But there are quite a few good YT vids out there on how to do it right.
Even if the Yukon throws an error after I replace it, I can recalibrate the...
Looking at the pictures of your wheels and mudflaps, it reminded me that I have been wanting to paint the GMC logo red on the lug nut covers to match the body emblems.
I was thinking of using model paint but I wasn't sure how UV resistant it would be.
And, thanks for the suggestion of going...
And, I need to find a really good set of mudflaps.
Are the OEM ones the only real game in town or are there aftermarket sets that are better without being too obtrusive?
Since the Yukon rolled into town yesterday, this morning I got the chance to give it a quick wash since it was completely destroyed from being in Wyoming and then the 1,100 mile trip out here.
I need to buy more chrome polish to attack the wheels later.
The tube of MAAS that I had decided to...
I have not installed one on the Yukon yet but all my other cars have had them, except for the one that is slightly lowered and there is no cover protecting the drain plug area.
And, with the angle of the plug, if I put a Fumoto on there it would stick out even lower and I am afraid it would be...
Depends on the car.
Some are driven like any normal little old lady from Pasadena would, and others are driven harder so they get more performance oriented pads.
I have used the Z17, Z23 and Z36 pads on different vehicles.
I recently purchased new pads for my Yukon but I went with OEM pads...
PowerStop has been my go to pad for my cars for the last few years now.
I used to go with Performance Friction but they stopped making pads for some of my cars and PS pads are so easy to get from multiple outlets that I just transitioned to them and I've been happy with them.
Joe is exactly right, you need a good scanner that will read suspension and braking system codes so you can begin to troubleshoot your issues.
Most scanners only provide engine codes so they won't even scan the systems you need help with.
FWIW I plan on keeping my GMT900 for a very long time.
Right now it has 125k miles and it still runs great.
I do need to swap out the rear shocks and maybe the compressor but other than that it is pretty close to perfect.
I tend to keep my cars a long time.
Bought a 2002 Nissan Altima SE brand...
Good job on getting that engine in your shed with no cherry picker.
I used to work with a veritable mountain of a man that pulled a Jeep short block out of his pickup and held it up so his son could attach it to an engine stand.
The dude is a monster, shaking his hand was like shaking a...
Hers was down on the frame held on by a nice stamped, metal bracket.
Maybe it is just certain models that have that vent down on the frame or maybe GM decided having it mounted low was an issue so they moved it up as a running change during production?
Did your purge valve kit come with instructions and hoses to relocate the purge valve to up by the filler neck from down by the frame?
The kit I purchased when I changed out the purge valve on my sister's 2008 Silverado did.
Purge valve was stuck closed and it would take fuel at a trickle.
You need to seal them and use a kit with the fine sandpaper, not a kit with just polishing cream.
I've done the headlights on about 6 vehicles with the sanding discs and they always come out great and last as long as you add protectant to them.
The Meguire's stuff works well but you have to...
