@pmckrotch If they are going to "fix" the problem make sure they use a new VLOM, new lifter trays, and new lifters... and maybe a new cam too.
I recommend you have them FIX it by deleting AFM altogether right now, not deleting AFM after they "fix" it...
I agree might as well continue to run it while it still runs and rebuild it. The damage is already done to the wear parts of the motor but they can be replaced.
I don’t really pay attention to gas prices but I decided I’m going to start running E85 and so I figured I would take a picture to compare and I’m a little surprised at how high the price is of gasoline. This is one of the more expensive gas station but still.
This solidifies my decision to run...
@tanda35 I'm not sure why they stopped doing that, there certainly is still a "red line" there in the computer but they stopped painting them on the gauges.
@Trey Hardy The L33 cam is harder to get, I want to see if the LM7 cam would work that would be easiest for him because he can order it with the rest of the kit on 1 order. Also the L33 cam is like $250 these days
I am helping a guy build a parts list for a 2007 LC9 AFM delete. I understand that he has an all aluminum 5.3 with AFM and no VVT.
I am looking for a cam for him and Texas Speed Performance has LM7 cams and they claim to work without VVT.
I am wondering how a LM7 cam compares to a L33 cam...
What brand parts did you use?
I would just pull the caliper off and double check your work. Make sure you didn't over grease your sliding pins and that there is nothing inhibiting the motion of the sliding pin.
Another possibility is you could have a bad brake hose which would restrict fluid...
Some joints have zerk fitting which require a little tool to inject grease into the joint but it might be a better use of time to identify the speak and addressing it directly. I would hate you spend all the time to grease everything you can and still have a squeak
@the 18th letter Mostly to monitor more system information than just coolant temp and oil pressure, I would like to see live values for fuel trim and current gear and other information the speedometer cluster doesn't show
@Charlie207 I have Torque pro but don’t want a cell phone battery strapped to my dashboard.
Looking for something I can set and forget without having to unlock a cellphone and connect to Bluetooth
Not making an assumption, I’ve never seen someone dyno a truck on large tires so my question was more to find out if a vehicle will dyno the same about of HP if they are geared properly for 28 inch tires or 35 inch tires.
In my mind there has to be some sort of energy loss as you increase tire...
I am at 190,000 and just ran E85 for the first time for a tank or 2 and it worked fine. It's kind of cool seeing the MPG drop instantly
I don't know if the previous owners ran E85 or changed the O2 sensors but I understand the Tahoe uses the O2 sensor to read the ethanol content so it's...

This video was recommended to me today, it was a good video that shows how an engine sounds the first time you run it after a rebuild. When I did the AFM delete on my tahoe the first couple seconds were pretty click clacky and so was the tahoe in the video
@swathdiver Interesting so your results suggest that E85 only needs to be 21% cheaper to run for it to break even, if E85 is 30% cheaper than 91 then I would be saving money running E85.
Does running E85 have any downsides of running it? Does it shorten the life of components?
You guys about...
@smiley91 With 180k I think you're well past any GM warranty out there.
If you can get the motor properly diagnosed then rebuilding it has little to no risks, it's when people make assumptions and apply a "fix" to the problem without actually identifying the problem.
There should be shops out...
@Onlyone No worries man I think we all knew what you were getting at lol.
For me I think the mileage difference between E85 and Premium is greater than just 2mpg. I will use your 30% rule of thumb to figure out if it would be worth it because I live in Northern California so gas prices are...
