Dropping the tanks on tahoe suck, especially those stupid evap lines inside of the tank. It will be fairly custom inside of there if you swap in the pump.
Great write up! Also very glad you are satisfied with the swap!
Like mentioned the top bracket is a reinforcement for the hoop that is already there. Is it required? No, but it will make you feel more confident if you have any doubts about the swap and that part failing. It doesnt bother me if...
Glad you like it! One thing I didn't see is a new lower bump stop. I think you said you forgot to order them but I highly recommend installing them at the same time and cut off the old pocket. Great review!
I also didnt notice your cv shaft?
For people asking, I have about 1500 miles on mine...
Stock shocks have 4.5" of total travel for what its worth, that means only 2.25" up or down travel. Like mentioned, movement at the wheel is a lot more than the shock distance.
Shocks have a certain range that they recommend running the ride height, so relative to the shock the ride height needs to stay pretty constant (within an inch or so usually). Longer stroke shocks have a wider "ride height" than short shocks. For the spring, you can run whatever preload and...
What are yalls distance from center of wheel height to bottom of the fender? By measuring from the center instead of the ground it takes wheel/tirr combo out of it. I just went outside and measured the 20 on mine.
Its very important to have a bump stop installed...which I do and trimmed at just the height so it contacts slightly before the shock is bottomed. I did have a problem with bottoming when I first tried this, but have not had a single issue with it after installing the bump stop.
From the center...
Based on the experience of the guy on pt doing the swap I dont know if I would recommend the stud top. The bushing just doesnt like this much weight it seems. I have the procomp adapter on mine and no complaints but im not super low either.
Hey guys I dropped the price on the brackets today; $20 off for the upper/lowers so they are now $180/$180 and the full kit is $35 off so its now $315. Let me know if anyone wants some!
The lower mounts only work with the factory LCA. They use the fact that it is dropped from the mount to stop the coilover end from pivoting. I think the DJM lower arm is flat so obviously this wont work. However I *think* the DJM arm has a female bracket for the shock already on there, so in...
Having access to a scanner would be very useful...at least then you could narrow down what bank it is. Try the standard compression and leakdown tests.
My lower brackets work with the factory LCAs only. You could probably trade someone if you get rid of yours and maybe make a little off yours.
4" is probably a little agressive, but I would say 3" is very resonable. Keep in mind you will have the same steering componement and joint issues as a...
it is probably the same pump, so yes it will be fine. If you keep burning up pumps I would make sure you change the fuel filter (believe yours has it inline), and inspect the wiring. Even better would be to upgrade the wiring.
Exactly, as long as you dont move the UCA from the factory spot you can fit a coil spring in there. If you set it to the same height as you had with the torsion bars the angles will not be affected.
Brad, I borrowed a friends corner scale to find mine. With me in it it had about 1475 on the front wheels and 950 over the back. Im about 250, and if you guys are measuring 5300 thats about 1350 per tire, so pretty close.
Keep in mind the shocks are at an angle, so you will need a little more...
