This is just a wild guess, but it sounds like your ECU thinks the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) is wide open all the time. Like it’s being fed voltage from another source.
Just something to check. The wire that may be crossed is the dark blue from the TPS. If you can find it in the plug...
For reference, a nominal 1200 watt inverter requires 4 gauge wire from the battery with a 150 amp fuse in that circuit. Forget the power point and just wire direct.............

While your in the planning stages, it would be a good idea to verify 12 volt wire size needed to power the inverter.
A microwave can draw a lot of juice, plus it is an inductive load, which has a fairly good surge at start up.
Might need heavier wire to feed the inverter………
The multiple stator tranny’s are a product from the past. The most notable was probably the Buick “Dynaflow”, also known as the dynoflush or dynoslush. They were the best they could do with the technology of their day.
Great advances have been made in turbine design. This has enabled far...
I could not tell the 3200 stall from stock. Even now that it is 4200, it still drives like a stock converter in everyday driving. As long as you get the lockup version of whatever stall speed converter.
The higher the stall, the more torque it delivers……………
The torque converter I started with was MPC (Midwest Performance Converters) 3200 stall, with multi disc lockup. Last summer, Midwest adjusted it up to 4200 rpm’s.
You will need the dip stick and tube for the 80. The output shaft on the 80 is larger than the 60, so if you don’t use the 80 transfer case, you might be able to swap the chain and sprockets to the 60 transfer case. I used the 60 xfer case and swapped out the shaft and sprocket.
The...
I would vote for the Air / Lift helper air bags. I think they are much more durable than the air shocks, plus you can get better performing shocks without the air option.
I have had Air / Lifts on several of my trucks for many years. Neve and issue, and easy to use. I install the fill port...
There is a plastic box around the fuel pump, that has the return fuel from the fuel pressure regulator peeing in the top of the box. The idea of the box is to keep the fuel pump cool and to also make sure it is submerged, even when the level outside of the box is lower. The box must be damaged...
I would like to see what specifically a MSD box does to increase performance.
My understanding is, it bumps the voltage to the coil to increase the voltage of the coil output. At the same time, it creates multiple sparks instead of one big one.
According to the laws of physics, when...
The early Hydromatic's were able to start the engine by pushing the vehicle. They gave up the "rear pump" in 1957-1958. You must have heard about the pushing part from an old timer.............:)
Hey, Cool Beans. As long as you don't mind doing some programming, let the games begin..........
I found a Vortech Fuel Pump for your project. PM me with your address and I'll get it moving in your direction......... :)
That’s it, that’s the fuel controller. The Ignition box was a separate deal. If you had one of these kits, you would not have to screw around with the program…..
Makes it all so simple. I thought these kits came with the whipple originally.
The Vortech kit came with a spacer with two injectors in it, that went between the throttle body and the intake manifold. They just T’d into the fuel line ahead of the throttle body. They used a “in line” fuel pump to assist the stock pump in the tank. I might have one of those pumps in my...
Come on Adam, you are doing some amazing things for being in that category.
What you can do is just go with the vortec heads. They will breath a lot better than your stock heads. If you end up having detonation issues, you can solve it easy with an alcohol injector. Changing over to a...
Yea, I know all about the money pit concept. Lol
I’m using the rubber grommets on the valve covers. The drivers side has one opening hooked to the PCV, and the passenger side has two oil breathers that just slide into the rubber grommets. One of those is the oil filler opening. There are...
The LC-1’s are built to be in unfriendly surroundings. The Tahoe just has the LC-1’s in the wiring harness over the tranny. The 4L80e does not work hard enough to get hot. lol
In the Camaro, the LC-1 is sort of close to the one header, so I have it inside of a heat shield sleeve. One of...
Yep, those gauges are great. I have been using the XD-16. They have the added LED’s that light up around the parameter of the face. You can program the colors of the leds to catch your attention at certain levels.
All of these products use the LC-1 to feed them. Including the hand held...
For an O2 sensor, it would be worth your while to check out the Innovate LC-1
http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lc1.php
It is not the gauge itself, but the O2 sensor and the circuitry to either feed a Innovate wide band guage or one of your own choosing.
The main thing is...
With your track record, it would be a good idea to check the transmission pressures in all gears as soon as it is all back together.
Pressure is controlled by the ECM. Could be you have something that is causing the numbers to be off. Not all tranny problems are caused by the trans itself...
Thanks Jonathan, great OBD2 info. I only do Tec3, so I can only guess.
I totally agree. It’s hard to diagnose a truck with a unknown history, that has gone through three sets of plugs and wires and distributor caps in a short time.
I understand the FPR's were changed with the...
I guess from what I have read in this thread, it’s time to start thinking outside of the box.
This is probably way off base, but let’s talk hypothetically.
If the fuel pressure were 90psi instead of 55psi, the amount of fuel passing the injectors would be considerably more. The O2...
If we are talking hypothetical, any restriction of the return line from the fuel pressure regulator to the tank, will cause fuel pressure to rise proportionate to the blockage……. Does not have to be a malfunction of the regulator itself.
