Help - running rough, new plugs, wires, cap and rotor

Seems to me you are treating symptoms here. The same parts are replaced over and over with the same results. There are other failures that can contribute to running too rich. The comment about being intermittent at first is an important clue. I would be looking towards things like the...

    Transmission code help.

Any legitimate transmission shop has the diagnostic box that can be plugged into your truck between your OBD2 and the trans that can test the trans operation and the ECM at the same time. It is not a scanner it is a testing device they use of a variety of reasons. I have watched it being used...

    Transmission code help.

It has been my experience that transmission shops know a lot more about the real world of transmissions, than dealers. Especially when you have a hi performance trans. I would start with a phone call to a trans shop. Try to talk to one of the technicians. Give him a brief description of...

    Transmission code help.

At what speed does it first lock up? What speed does is start slipping out and does it slip out whether it is in 3th or 4rd? If so, is the slipping in and out speed related or RPM related?

    Transmission code help.

You might want to check with your Tuner about adjustments to the OBDII. Do you know what year transmission you ended up with? Have you run pressure tests while driving? If shift points seem to be happening at the proper speed points, it is doubtful that the speed sensor is having a...

    Hydroboost questions...

I don’t think you need to be year specific. The parts manual should be grouped by common years of the parts. I assume the power steering pumps would be the same for a long list of years. I would expect the bore in master cylinders might be different between half ton’s through 1 ton’s, because...

    Hydroboost questions...

Thing to do is to visit a Chev dealer and have the parts guy print out the exploded diagram of the hydraulic lines of the hydro brake, from a OBS pickup. Check on the prices for the hoses just for fun at the same time. I would check both gas and diesel. That should also give you the part...

    Driveshaft

You are probably referring to the noise made when the spline on the driveshaft binds and then releases. Every time the truck comes to a stop and then accelerates again, the drive shaft yoke, slides in and out of the transfer case on the splines. Through the years, the splines often get...

    97 tahoe, grinding noise

When driving in 3rd gear, and the Torque Converter is in lockup, the engine speed is the same as the tranny and driveshaft. When in 4th, the engine is turning slower than the driveshaft. If the difference in those speeds is causing a noise, I would have to guess that it most likely is in...

    97 tahoe, grinding noise

They often do change the TC with the tranny, but not always. I bring it up because at highway speed, the speed differential between the stator and turbin are close enough to have lower frequency sounds that may sound like grinding. As soon as you go into neutral, the differential goes way up...

    97 tahoe, grinding noise

Was the old torque converter used with the newer trans?

    97 tahoe, grinding noise

Does it make the same sound in 3rd gear as it does in 4th gear?

    replacing complete door hinges

Did you replace the bushings and the pins, or just the pins? The bushings wear faster than the pins. It's a lot easier to redo the bushings and pins rather than the entire hinge. :)

    Hydroboost questions...

I don’t think pictures from my truck would help much. I could not use a stock power steering pump because it had to be in an inaccessible place. My power steering pump has no reservoir on it. I have a stand alone reservoir that was from a chev van. I did find a picture of the unit I...

    transfer case

Most transmission shops can order up the parts. Grab the make and model number off of the metal tag on the rear of the transfer case and give them a call. I have always pulled the trans or transfer case I needed worked on and dropped it off at the tranny shop. Saves the R & R charges and...

    Hydroboost questions...

You guys should know that the plumbing on these systems is not a big deal. I had to cut and fit all the hoses on mine. I used that 3/8” stainless mesh covered high pressure tubing for the feed side and rubber “Transmission oil cooler hose” 3/8” 400 psi, (SAE J1019) for the return lines...

    Hydroboost questions...

The brake pedal was not changed. If I undestand it, the change of the master cylinder is because the actuator uses a shorter stroke than the vacuum. The larger bore supplies the same amount of brake fluid and the hydro boost's added power makes it feel the same on the pedal. It's been...

    Hydroboost questions...

A word of caution…………… I don’t read about concerns of caliper displacement. When these systems come from the factory (with thousands of engineers making caculations), they are matched with master cylinder and caliper and rear brake capacity. So the right amount of brake fluid feeds from the...

    Hydroboost questions...

The diesel trucks have used them for a long time, since diesels have no vacuum. I had my first one in a 1979 diesel half ton Chev Pickup. As far as the ABS goes, yes it must be part of the bleeding procedure. The ABS unit itself works the same with the added pressure. It just thinks you...

    Hydroboost questions...

I have been running the Hydro Boost for several years. It is just a way to increase the mechanical advantage over vacuum boost. Should not have any affect on the ABS.. What kind of trouble are you having?

    CTSY fuse keeps blowing

The Ctsy Fuse feeds all of the interior lamps in the truck. As you mentioned it does the vanity mirror lights to the glove compartment light. This is a bit unusual because the circuits are wired “HOT”. Which means that all of the lights have power to them all the time and they are turned on...

    transfer case

There should be a round metal tag on the back of your transfer case. It has the model # and serial#, plus whatever other info you need to either replace it or have it rebuilt. It is probably a "New Process" brand. If the case is not damaged, I would rebuild the one you have. They are not...

    4L60E to a 4L80E

Those instructions make it sound a lot harder than it really is. Most of the items are just part of a normal trans removal and install. I just moved the cross member back to the empty set of holes in the frame. No need to chop up the cross member. I also use a separate control for the...

    Radiator Crack!

You should take your truck to a radiator shop to have it fixed. They can relpace the tanks on either side of the core, if neccesary. They are the experts and will make it work correctly. Thats a lot cheaper than frying an engine. A major overheat can warp the heads along with some uther...

1996 Yukon fuel pump is running after vehicle is turned off.

It also would help, to know if the "ECM B" mini fuse (20 amp), were pulled to see if it kills the fuel pump. It is in the under hood, fuse relay center. That is the source of +12 volts for the oil sending unit. Just a thought........ :)
