Can a Torsion bar become weak??

No I didn't mean flipped around, just rotating the hex like you said. Even in shop manuals it will tell you to mark the orientation of the bars & return them to the exact same placement in regard to the hex or phasing within the control arm & TB x-member support.

Can a Torsion bar become weak??

Torsion bar wears out & degrades just like a coil spring. Those bars are indexed & if you dropped the bars to replace the keys and THEN put the bars back in a different position than they were originally (i.e. clocked 180 degrees out of phase) then you will have this issue of the bars...

    New tahoe

Do you have a certified mechanic that is used regularly? Maybe have it thoroughly examined for a small fee? I understand your concern of the hours matching mileage but I don't know that a lot of forum members can give answers based on practical knowledge. Perhaps an Internet search will provide...

    New to the site

Obviously you are going to drain & refill motor oil. AC deco 1dexos 5w-30 (6qrt) & delco or Napa gold filter. Even before that I did a drain&refill on the trans with a new filter/seal/pan gasket kit & Delco Dex6 synthetic. The trans needs all the help it can get & this dex6syn is the business...

    04 Yukon SLT PURCHASE

Ya $4k is a good price, especially if the suspension system is without fault. Take it for a test drive and see how the truck handles on bumps and potholes. Have the seller activate whatever different suspension modes and be certain all of that is 'as it should be.' If you look online through...

    Popping from front end

The POP/THUNK noise that I was getting driving over bumps came from a faulty front shock absorber. I replaced them both and no more sounds. I dismissed the idea because they felt plenty strong when I swapped the torsion bar keys back in August or whatever. Just goes to show you...

Ah damn that's sick. A wet bar adjacent to the outside porch? I've never seen that. How convenient. They just think of everything. I love your trailer even before I noticed this. You got it goin on.

    Bilstein Shocks

I should browse the classifieds more often. I had to buy new shocks last week. This may work on 4x4 models too; looks the same, anyway. You should check on that and edit your title. Would give you a larger audience.

    Bilstein Replacement Shocks

have you found that the OEM zW7 springs are too soft to work with regular shocks? If you replace the springs the driveability of your truck should increase dramatically, assuming everything else is in order. When shopping for shocks you will see the majority call for "except zw7" and it's for...

upper control arm ball joint boot

You have to buy the same exact BJ to swap the grease boot. Each manufacturer will have a diff't design. Even the slightest difference renders it useless except for its specific application. Unless you were to just get lucky. At least this gives you a backup if the joint fails in the near future...

    Dead and Stubborn

2003 vinZ flexfuel has the outboard fuel filter. 1 of my very first maintenance items. Real PIA, orig filter design won't allow clearance to insert disconnect tool. Had to remove the filter with output line and cut the filter off with a saw, then use the tool to remove stub end of filter...

Jet throttle body or Hypertech max energy?

I don't know about all that. Like homeboy said, his supercharger utilizes the factory inlet duct, per their specs. If there is a better place to draw fresh air, their research would have provided this, I'm certain. Mr Whipple has no shortage of R&D. I'm sure your thermometer works well for...

    New Tahoe Owner

The diff fluids are probably black in color with little to no viscosity or lubricating properties left, I would at least do a drain & refill on those with oil spec'd in maint sched. 80-90 Dino front and 75-90 synthetic in the rear diff. Check the fill level on the Tcase @ very least. If you do a...

    AWD VS 4WD

Well, the 2 times I selected Auto4... same scenario: raining, paved street, driving in a straight-on direction about 20-30 mph. I hear a thrashing sound from the front under carriage, such as a very light metal-on-metal noise. Rubbing 2 pieces of tin together in a circular motion is the sound...

    AWD VS 4WD

I searched quite a bit on the Auto4 mode because of the experience I had the couple times that I engaged it. From the threads I pulled up on it, persons claiming to be GM tech or otherwise have said that Auto4 mode and it's overuse and/or misuse is the 2nd biggest killer of the NP246, after the...

    Ebay front end repair kit

I've ever used Moog's parts. most of my limited experience turning wrenches is with imports and I always chose Lemforder when available. Ebay front end repair kit

everybody likes a good bargain. The problem is all of the labor/tools/time required for front suspension/steering R&R. It's hard to say how long cheap Chinese grade parts will hold-up and nobody wants to turn around and replace a lower ball joint again after 6 months. At least with the more...

    AWD VS 4WD

All Land Rovers are AWD and I never had a single issue with my 2004. I absolutely love it and you don't even know it's there on the daily driven street, and at 120k miles nothing has needing replacing and none the worse for wear. For off road or more demanding situations there is a diff lock...

    AWD VS 4WD

Maybe the Auto mode of my TC is compromised then. I engaged the auto4 when it was raining 1 day after I bought it & something didn't seem right. I searched on that for weeks and most responses in regard to threads on the subject were not to use it on the street. It's possible the PO...
