    Finally getting a Tech2

For sure. I don’t want to generalize for all of Canada, but certainly in Manitoba 10% alcohol is the highest you can get. My experiment with premium is done, too. Way too expensive to put that in if I don’t have to. :)

    Finally getting a Tech2

Thanks James, that makes me feel a bit better. :) I got a reply this morning saying that his supplier is away for two days and he’ll see what can be done then. It makes perfect sense that once the card is in, it’ll never have to come out. It was just very disheartening, that’s all. I was...

    Finally getting a Tech2

Good news and bad news. My Tech 2 arrived today! The bad news is the cover to the card tray doesn't open up far enough to get the PCMCIA card into the top slot. There is a lip at 90 degrees to the lid which cradles in the card to better protect it, I suppose, but it makes it quite...

Oil pressure sensor woes - are there different varieties?

Hello my fellow TYFers, I am trying to replace the oil pressure sensor on my 2009 GMC Yukon XL 1500 SLT 5.3L. Of course, it’s a royal pain in the butt to get to. :) I have watched some videos, read some stories here, and consulted the service manual, but nothing I’ve found had an actual...

    Factory Service Manual?

Yep, I’ve got the ZW7 suspension, no auto leveling for me. The trailer is about 3000lbs dry, but we load it up pretty good. I had the axle upgraded because on our first long road trip out to Montreal, I managed to hit a bump pretty hard under full (likely exceeded) load and bent the axle such...

    Finally getting a Tech2

Hi Roger, Thank you for bringing up this perspective! There was another person in another thread “VXDIAG as Tech2 Alternative” or something to that effect. The OP didn’t end up replying back, and somebody else chimed in and wasn’t able to get it working. It sounds like a CANdi module is...

    Finally getting a Tech2

Thanks for checking James, I do appreciate it. I had done some other digging too in the meantime, and my research also shows it’s a MDI/GDS2 system, not Tech2 compatible. Even if I can’t use it with the Cruze, it’ll still be well worth the purchase for my XL.

    Finally getting a Tech2

Oh, and I found a seller on eBay selling just the card, 33.004, for $22.49USD free shipping, if anybody is interested...

    Finally getting a Tech2

James, Good call on eBay. I found a few on there that ship to Canada for free and are 33.004 with case for only a few bucks more than the DHGate kit I linked to above. I wonder what the difference is between the two software versions. Probably added vehicle support, and if I want the 2013...

    Factory Service Manual?

Not black on black, mine is silver. Interesting idea to contact GM for the build sheet. I’ve got all the RPO codes from the sticker in the glovebox, but it would still be neat to see what else I may learn about my ride.

    Factory Service Manual?

The sticker on the door doesn’t give a date, but it shows November 2008 in the Arlington plant.

    Finally getting a Tech2

Hmmm... doing some Googling, and I saw that Tech2Win seems to have a latest version of 33.004 as you indicated. Haven’t found a current listing for a physical Tech2 with other than 32.007 though. Strange. Does your Tech2 have 33.004? I don’t know how I’d check the Cruze, so I’ll take you up on...

Haha, James does seem to be the resident Tech-spert. Thanks for pinging him Nate!

    Finally getting a Tech2

Hey folks, I'm finally ready to break down and order myself a Tech2. Bonus that my wife's car is a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, so it should work on both our vehicles! :headbang: Many of the links I have found in the forums are no longer valid, but the pointers to the websites were still helpful...

Tow mirrors or replace to same.

Hi Tim, I am considering an upgrade to towing mirrors. The only problem for me is that I haven’t found any that are power folding either. It comes in handy depending on how much room I have when backing into the garage and if I need to fold in the passenger mirror. It doesn’t happen often, but...

    Parking guidelines 2007 Suburban

I wish I had a camera on my 2009 for the sole purpose of hitching up the trailers solo. I know I can add one aftermarket, and I might one day, but there are other things earlier in the list. ;)

    Factory Service Manual?

Hey James, thanks for checking! I remember you had written that there was a file missing but he sent it over right away, so during my initial conversation with him I brought this up. He advised that the missing file was now part of the overall download. Just to be sure I did a search, and...

    VXDIAG as Tech2 successor

Hi Chris @iamdub and Scott @Scottydoggs , Yes, Scott is right. I have a Flex Fuel vehicle with the virtual sensor, not an actual sensor, and sometimes the algorithm goes squirrely and needs to be reset with a Tech2 or similar. My Lemur BlueDriver can read the fuel trims and alcohol content in...

    Factory Service Manual?

Hi Tim, Mine is a 2009, so I got this one: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Chevrolet-Suburban-Tahoe-Yukon-Escalade-2007-2010-Service-Repair-Manual/262862340965 He's got a lot of other models available not listed on eBay. Great customer service too. I asked if he could get me one for my wife's Cruze...

    VXDIAG as Tech2 successor

Bad news. Pulling the negative battery cable did reset the short and long term fuel trims, but it did not reset the learned alcohol content (currently stuck at 63.1%). I had the negative cable pulled and shorted to the positive cable for about 20 minutes then went for a road test. Since it...

    VXDIAG as Tech2 successor

Hi Paul, Thanks for your update! I'm sorry that you're having some trouble. I may hold off on the VXDIAG then for a bit, especially if the battery disconnect fully resets my trims and computed alcohol content. That's the only thing I need right now that I can't do with my BlueDriver.

    VXDIAG as Tech2 successor

Hey Scott, thanks for the tip! I can say for certain that clearing the codes does not reset the trims (I've cleared them way too many times since this issue cropped up so I could remote start in the cold until it triggered again), but I have not tried pulling the negative cable for 30 minutes...

    2008 Tahoe LTZ - 9 MPG

Hey @Rule Andrews Is yours a Flex Fuel model? If you have a scan tool (I use BlueDriver for now, works well), check the Alcohol Fuel % and short / long term fuel trims for both banks. If they are out of whack, that could cause some roughness at idle and poor fuel consumption. At least it seems...

    VXDIAG as Tech2 successor

Hi there @Michael1972 Have you received your Tahoe yet? If so welcome to the club! :driver: I was hoping you had an update on this as it appears I need to reset my fuel trims after all. It looks like it's either this interface here, or a Tech2 from Alibaba at much higher price. Or, you know...

    Factory Service Manual?

Well that was money well spent! Fantastic collection of PDFs, over 400MB worth, tens of thousands of pages, lots of diagrams. I highly recommend them to anybody. Very detailed.
