Somewhat Comical -- The Dealer Asked Me to Make an Offer -

Maybe if they out helium in the tires, you'd get better mpg...traction would probably suffer, tho. [emoji39]

Air is 75% Nitrogen...air is plenty good enough for most of us, and it's free!

    Replacement tires

Definitely agree: its a waste if $. Before swapping tires, you might try adjusting psi first. Maybe lower the pressure to 32, see if you like the ride better.

    Upgrading Infotainment System options?

The absolute best nav system is Google Maps on your smartphone, IMHO. One of these days manufacturers come up with a docking station for smartphones, and do away with the near-worthless OEM NAV systems. After- market options are nearly as bad.

Where can I get the best deal on a GM Master Protection Plan?

Actually, many dealers own their own warranty companies...or it's owned by the dealer's kids. Extra profit center for the dealer. Believe it ir not, some states, and the IRS allow these companies to be set up as tax-exempt entities, if they're structured correctly. Very, very profitable!

Somewhat Comical -- The Dealer Asked Me to Make an Offer -

Offer $45k, period, bottom line, including tax, out the door. That's a $42,995 vehicle the OP is looking at. $45k, including tax ought to be fair. Dealer has already been paid a demo allowance, and a model year holdover allowance, on that unit. I doubt he has over 40k in it.

Android Auto is a big flop

Yep; we've been on a three-week, 4,000-mile road trip, and I have used my smartphone almost exclusively for navigation. Neither the OEM nav unit, nor Android Auto would allow me (or I couldn't figure out how) to pre-design and use routes involving all the back roads and waypoints we wanted to...

Android Auto is a big flop

I uninstalled Android Auto from my phone. But if I plug my phone into the USB cord to charge it, the Tahoe attempts to start Android Auto anyway. Then when it finds I do not have Android Auto on my phone, it attempts to download and install it. I wonder if there's a way to uninstall it from...

Android Auto is a big flop

Google Maps is pretty good; lots of detail, including forest service roads, and many foot trails. I've probably got a couple dozen or more downloaded maps, including Cherokee and Pisgah National forests, most of East Tn, north Georgia, western NC, Alabama, Louisiana, eastern Arizona, and much...

Android Auto is a big flop

Google maps has downloadable offline maps not requiring internet or cellular service. I use it extensively on my adventure bike riding forest service roads and trails. I have been trying to use Android Auto as a means of using Google Maps in my Tahoe...but so far it's a flop.

Android Auto is a big flop

Guess I need to check further, as running a Pre-planned route, with waypoints, is what I'd like to do.

Android Auto is a big flop

Been trying to use Android Auto, here's my experience: Using Google Maps for pre-planned routes does not work. Android Auto system alters the route to the path it "decides" is best, ignoring the pre-planned route and stops along the way. I had set up a route on my smart phone the night before...

Extended warranty has it paid for its self?

Ive bought many vehicles in my 50 years of driving, and I have only bought an extended warranty on one single occaision. In that one instance, it did, in fact, pay off. But statistics show that on the whole, extended warranties do not pay off. Like any kind of insurance, chances are, you wont...

    Should I buy a '15 LTZ?

Smart: buying used...especially if there's warranty remaining, say at 30,000 miles or so. You can save approx $1/mile, compared to new. But fully fund that Roth first!!!

    Should I buy a '15 LTZ?

Start by first fully funding your Roth IRA. Then buy your wheels, but avoid (or minimize) any debt to do it. If you fully fund your Roth starting at 19, you can be a multi millionaire when you retire...and it's tax-free!

Key Fob programming preferences for different drivers?

On my Tahoe LTZ (2016), the OEM fobs were marked 1 and 2, and the setting preferences adjust automatically depending on which fob is used by the driver. I too am curious as to how a replacement fob, should one ever be needed, could be "labelled" as a 1 or a 2. Perhaps when ordering the new fob...

Sunglasses stuck in sunglass holder compartment CHEVY TAHOE 17

Yup, my prescription bi-focal sunglasses got stuck in there. Finally got them out, but broke the glasses in the process. Stupid design, stupid user. Now I'm out $150 for scrip shades. Not using that again!!!!!!! I think I'll glue it shut so nobody else makes my mistake. In truth, GM msy have...

    Onstar

Given the capabilities of today's smartphones, I suspect that days are numbered for costly features like OnStar, Navigation, and Sirius/XM. When I get in my '16 Tahoe LTZ, I put my Droid on the charger pad, then instruct it to "talk to me". That puts the phone in hands-free mode for calls...

    Programming new key?

I lost one of the two fobs that came with my Corvette, so I bought another from GMPartsonline. I repeatedly followed the programming instructions in owners manual very carefully, but was unable to ever successfully program the new fob. Fortunately, I found the missing OEM fob before having to...

    emergency unlock / spare key?

I've never locked myself out...but I'm prepared in case I ever do. Most likely scenario would involve losing the fob that's supposed to be in my pocket. In the old days, a spare key in a magnetized box, hidden inside a bumper or fenderwell, was an easy solution. Nowadays, with fobs, it's a...

Any way to permanently turn off proximity alert? (Esp. when towing)

I think it's the proximity alert, not the parking assist...you know, the thing that warns you if a car is coming from the side. I dunno...could be the parking assist, I guess. I have fiddled with it, and with "towbar" setting also. But it all seems to reset to default position with every...
