i was curious, how much should a new key for a 2017 escalade cost? I’m thinking about picking one up this weekend, and the one for sale was traded in with just 1 key. I want to have a spare, or two if it can handle 3.

My 2010 escalade was easy, and you can program through the Dic. But with the keyless I do not know.

Can it be programmed at home?
Can I buy a key online and program it at Chevy which may have cheaper labor than Cadillac?
Is the dealer the only option?

You might want to look at the owners manual, which you should be able to downoad from the Cadillac owners site.

Thank you. I didn’t realize there was a website for the owners manuals (and I’ve been owning an escalade since 2010). I’m buying a used car and it’s listed as only having one key and no books. So that site will come in handy.

You can also look on ebay for the manuals sold as a package which would have been delivered with the vehicle. Kind of nice to have. Odd that there are no manuals for a newer 2017.

I lost one of the two fobs that came with my Corvette, so I bought another from GMPartsonline. I repeatedly followed the programming instructions in owners manual very carefully, but was unable to ever successfully program the new fob. Fortunately, I found the missing OEM fob before having to spend $$ to get programming done at a dealership.

Here's hoping the op has better luck. My Corvette is an older model, and I cant image fob programming getting any easier in recent years.

(Anybody need a Vette fob?)

Bought the car today. 2017 esky, and it ended up having the manuals etc, but still only 1 key. Ordered an extra keyfob from gmparts and hopefully I'll be able to program it myself.

Look at page 32 and 33 in your owners manual "Programming with Recognized Transmitters".

Maybe I am lucky, but I don't think my situation is that different here in relatively rural Oklahoma. Our local key shop sells late model keys and programs them for free. I carry two keys with me all the time (one in each pocket) and my wife carries the third key. The local dealership wanted $185 for a key and for the reprogramming of all three keys. The key shop did it for $135. Simple and easy. No big deal. Don't know what it would cost in OKC.
