Thanks Guys: Yes 0W-20 and filter every 5k miles. I've only ever used regular gas. 8L90 trans had a torque converter replaced about 8 years ago. I do fluid and filter on it every year. I replaced cam and lifters 5 years ago. Still running stock AFM. I do try to stay on top of all the...
Hi Guys. Perfect time for me to jump in here. My 2015 Yukon XL Denali just hit that magic mark this week! I'm happy about it and proud my care for this vehicle is paying off.
Ok guys.....2015 Yukon XL Denali, today I'm at 357,800 miles. Bought it new 9 years ago. I'm married to it. Gotta keep it to at least the 10 year anniversary!
so, this December will be 8 years of ownership. So its about 38,500 mi per year. Never used a "flush". I do my own work. Just drop the pan and install new fluid and filter. It has the 158 degree trans cooler thermostat. I did have to also replace the temp sensor harness twice. I consider...
Well, not to jinx myself, but mine seems to to operating generally " normally" for its build date ( NOV 2014 ). Mine is a 2015 Yukon XL Denali. I had a new torque converter under warranty at 86K miles. I do a Mobil1 blue label fluid and filter change about every year. And by "normal" i mean...
Yes, I've always used 87 where i live. It will of course get more thirsty if i get happy with the pedal, but i get a bit of satisfaction of seeing nice MPG numbers and having the AFM do what it was designed to do, while still knowing there's 420 HP available if i want it.
I think my highway MPG is good for a 6000 pound vehicle. i snapped this today while keeping it at 62 - 65 mph. 2015 Yukon XL Denali. Of course many times it drops with speed.
I did the same job at home too on my 2015 yukon xl denali 6.2 engine. except i replaced all the lifters and the cam. the only thing i added to your list was the VLOM, as it is recommended by GM to replace it during any AFM failure. Plus i suggest a careful inspection of the cam lobe. i...
well, interesting question. I do my own work, so when i had the heads off I removed all the valves and had to wire brush the intakes. they were all caked with serious carbon buildup. see pic. But No, i didn't install a catch can. But i now know why some folks do.
ok, Yes original 8 speed transmission. second converter. 158 degree trans thermostat. new fluid and filter every year.
autozone radiators are *****. finally got another GM unit.
I actually like the AFM. Thats one of the reasons i chose this vehicle. replaced all AFM components when the cam was...
Hi, and yes i was expecting that question. Here goes:
Torque converter (warranty)
radiator ( warranty)
a/c condenser ( warranty)
left running board motor
right running board motor
trans temp sensor 2x
another condenser
3 more radiators
cam
all lifters
all 4 magnaride shocks ( converted to...
Hi, I replaced my leaking front magnaride struts with hydraulic conversion struts from Suncore Industries. What a difference! the ride is great and was about 1/3 the cost. 2015 Yukon Denali. I would check them out.
You might need to update the transmission cooler thermostat device. Here is the GM TSB that shows the change that lowers the temp from about 190 to about 158. Mine runs about 160 all the time.
Well, I'm kinda proud but it seems conservative driving and LOTs of maintenance can pay off. Now that I've fixed all the known problems, it seems i have a dependable vehicle that i can just drive and enjoy.
Hello fellow 2015 Yukon owner:
I too love my 2015 Yukon XL Denali. I currently have 206,000 miles on it. Mostly highway of course. I also plan to own it for a long time. The true fact is that every problem or fault that I have ever read or heard about with this vehicle, I have experienced...
Hi guys: Well i've been hearing a loud ticking from the top or center rear of the engine. I'm looking for ideas as to what to start looking at for causes. How would one test to see if the lifters are finally collapsing? Still seems to run ok.
Thanks,
TG
