I know it looks bad. This is my family car I only use for long trips so the project is still in progress.
It's the correct kit but the bezel that came with it obviously didn't fit the HU.

Like I said...
I put the dash kit that came with the radio, I know its skinny and does not work.. This is the radio kit I have on : http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-010GM1598AB-Impala-update-Double/dp/B002S0OB5A
The radio trim piece did not fit. I may have to cut it somewhere to see if I can get it on there...
If you read the beginning of the thread you would understand why my install ended this way.
That is as far back as the unit would go, there is a large metal pipe that runs along the back of the radio console opening that doesn't give me enough room for this unit. Cutting it didn't seem to...
So I took sometime this weekend and cut out the plastic walls (2 total) towards the back of the radio console area using my trusty Dremel.
It didn't come out to bad and since this is for my long family trips, functionality came before beauty :)
Thanks for all the suggestions.
I attached a long bolt to a piece of long wood in order to create a platform where I could screw in my monitor securely. Use this link as reference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUtRn1tJsKk
I have a 2008 Yukon so I use the same basic instructions, of course you are going to have to tweak...
I was wondering if I should start the project since cutting the plastic will only give me so much room. I am going to try it this weekend since I really don't want to spend time selling the radio and then looking for a new one.
Thanks for your comments.
I agree, its going to be hard to not spend money on that one. I had to buy the PAC OS4 that comes with a little box for the chimes. I found it for 95 bucks on Ebay for my 2008 Yukon. From experience I have learned to save and get whats required instead of spending money over and over to get it...
Ok, so I am installing a double din dvd/gps/etc... unit in my 2008 Yukon XL and discovered after wiring everything up that the opening in the dash for the radio is not deep enough :emotions122:
I am comfortable modding stuff (done so in the past) but there is a large metal tube that runs...
I just did the same install myself. First time for me, but it came out very good.
There is a metal bar that you can attach something sturdy to. i attached a flat piece of wood and then screwed my overhead panel base to that.
Nope. I wish it was as simple as that. It just stops at the same point and when looking at the driver seat it goes back at least 3 to 4 inches further back.
I am going to have to look around again for a while, i don't think I have a choice but to take it to the dealer this weekend...
Passenger Seat does not move all the way back.
Hello.
I just purchased a 2008 Yukon XL and am fixing up all the little problems.(not much) Great truck.
I have a problem with the passenger seat that doesn't move back on the tracks all the way back like the driver seat does. When i sit in...
