I'll add this comment in case it helps anyone searching the forum. Had the brakes checked again and they were fine. Shop now believed the sound was suspension...My ball joints were going out any way, so they replaced the upper control arms/ball joints and lower ball joints. The sound still...
My Yukon started making a brake squeal sound a few months ago. However it only happens when driving at low speeds, not when braking. It generally stops making the sound when I apply the brakes.
Took it to Midas near me (I've had good luck there historically) and they said it was the...
Yeah I agree with welding on something new. Another budget option for a "winter beater" is drill a new hole through the floor with a long bolt and put a huge washer or small piece of sheet metal on the top side so it doesn't pull through.
Yes retaining those functions are possible. It depends on how much you want to spend for the interfaces. Check out crutchfield.com. They will show you what head units are compatible with your vehicle. When you choose a head unit the site will offer accessory options that allow you to retain...
I second RootBeeR's comment. Depending on your stereo setup, your harness may have a reverse wire for this purpose. Otherwise you can tap the backup light wire.
I know they make some for NNBS, but I haven't seen one for the older style. Maybe you can make it work.

That's the shop prices for 2 upper control arms and 2 lower balljoints. I can get the Moog CK upper control arms and complete lower control arms for $434.
Thanks for the input. I'll read up more on the lower ball joints...my hope was that they were pre-installed in the arms so I didn't have to mess with them.
It looks like its time for ball joint replacements on my 2010.
The quote from my usual shop for replacing the 2 lower ball joints and the 2 upper control arms (w/new ball joints) is about $1860 + alignment. Its $783 parts and $1076 labor.
My understanding is that if I'm going to replace ball...
I had to replace mine also. This is the one I bought for my 2010 SLT with brake controller. Check the options because there are a few versions/colors based on your options.

Take a look at crutchfield.com. You can get a good sense for the installation level based on how many factory features (steering wheel controls, etc) you want to retain. If you purchase from them they also include detailed installation instructions.
