Trey,
Have you guys had a chance to put the system on an SPL meter? Will he be running 4-15 or 2-15's in the final layout? Have you thought about running a DSP to the highs? Where is the enclosure tuned to?
Everything's looking good so far. Any pics of the under hood electrical?
4 Ohm is perfect to replace that 3.6 ohm speaker. I’ve been running the CDT 2 ohm coax in the rear doors for 3 years without issues. A 2 ohm load/speaker typically makes the amplifier double its wattage output. This provides slightly louder volume. In my case I needed more output from the rears...
I see that this post is a couple weeks old but these Joying Radios are very impressive and Integrate very well with our trucks.
They are also built to fit our dash perfectly. I have chatted with numerous guys that run the Joying in their SQ competition vehicles with great results.
Running a new wire from the center console Bose amp is a fairly easy process(no tools until door panel needed). Remove the trim covers on the door sills and slightly move some carpet. You could use the OEM speaker wire as a pull string to make dealing with the door boots easier.

Great idea on the tile. I filled the concave spots with sound deadening material and closed cell foam. As mentioned previously the carpet I used is more forgiving than vinyl. I used the highest quality automotive carpet from an upholstery shop and it turned out better than expected.
The wife...
I just ran into an ottocast.com Apple Car Play and Android compatible device that may be of interest. They might require Car Play compatible USB but I thought I’d throw it out there.
I run a pretty high end competition level system in My 07. I’m running the factory head unit and pull the RCA signal directly from the head. The signal is extremely clean from 20Hz to 20khz when viewed on an oscilloscope. The Bose amp handles all the crossover points to the various speakers...
Have you explored any USB DAC’s? Or even a USB sound card for a PC.
Something like this might fit the bill.

Many years ago I took an automotive restoration class for a week so take this with a grain of salt. Once you apply the paint to the interior panel it will remove the texture and become flat. You will need to retexture the spots you paint. I recall seeing some interior paint kits that come with a...
I've had great luck with Mechman alternators. First you need to determine the total amperage draw of all your aftermarket devices to make an informed decision. There's also a number of other variables in this equation but total amperage draw is a good place to start.
This is the direction myself and a handful of guys go in the sound quality competition scene choose. JOYING They integrate nicely, have tremendous amount of features, while offering good fit and finish in our trucks.
Both trucks look like fun projects. My best buddy also runs 26's on his truck but he went to the darkside and bought a 2023 150 Platinum. I tap out at 22's and really prefer 20's mostly because I have 3 women at home with me.
Not that this is an issue but aren't both trucks 2000-2006 models?
Looks like a serious system. Keep us posted. I’d love to see a Parts list. If you and your buddy haven’t tackled an 07-14 there are a bunch of issues related to vibrations that need addressing early on. With 2-15’s on 5K I’ve creased quarter panels and the roof will need substantial support...
I had the same thought when I was upgrading the struts for slightly stronger units. Unfortunately there is only .25-.5” of travel above the OEM strut length once removed. This might have been limited by the actuator assembly on the automatic lift. It wasn’t worth my effort to start modifying...
Don't forget how easy the center console is to modify for a capacitive charger. It took me $10 in parts and 15min in a parking lot with hand tools. I fully agree the cubby is illogical.
There are a number of quality 6.5" subs that require small enclosures also capable of handling 500-1000+ watts. We're lucky to have an OEM spot for a sub in the front/center of our vehicles. In the SQ competition world up front bass is a huge deal. It helps to create an accurate sound stage...
That's an absolute steal! If I recall correctly those retail for $1000. Great midbass drivers as well! You been thinking about going active? You could run 200 watts just to those drivers with the right filtering. In the car audio world the DSP has been the biggest game changer in 30 years...
100%. The remote start was CEL related from removing the 4/8 cyl module. I'm going to re-enroll the primary fob then go from there.
Thanks everyone for the feedback!
JP’s new D4S amp look like monsters. Great build quality, exceed rated, and JP couldn’t be a better advocate for the car audio world. I’m an old school SQ competitor as well as a basshead so I went with hybrid audio L8SE’s, L3SE, L1proR2 tweets, all running on Mosconi amplification and DSP. I...
I’ve been running a pair of these knockoff Escalade fobs in my 07 LTZ for a couple years. In the last couple months 2 problems have popped up. I don’t believe there related but both involve the fobs.
#1 Recently the primary fob no longer opens the lift gate. Both bottom buttons(lift& glass)...
Swapping from one factory head unit to another model is more challenging than one would think. You'll need to verify the RPO code is the same for both vehicles, verify the audio package(Bose vs Bose Premium), have the dealer code the radio to your vin, etc. I may be off on some of the...
Great idea. I haven’t thought to place the mids and tweeter on the dash. Currently my setup is stacked in the door panels. The imaging is good but I’ve been thinking about relocating the L3SE’s in the sails with tweeters in the factory Bose location. The doors I cut up are from an Escalade so I...
