01 tahoe problems

Okay, so today i got my oil changed, coolant flushed and new air filter. Before today i was having problems with my truck overheating, (normal 210) it was running from 230-250 and when i got it back today they told me that my coolant resevior was completely dry. they topped off everything and i thought it would be good again. On my way home it was overheating way more than before to the line right before red and my message center told me to check coolant temp. So now im stuck taking it back tomorrow. Any ideas what it could be? Also got a long list of things that need to be replaced. Ball joints. Upper and lower. What i need to know is how do i know if they are screw in or press in? Someone told me that i more than likely have to change the control arm with the ball joint. Im trying to figure out what i need to buy so i can get it fixed! last but not least, they told me i have an engine oil leak somewhere but they dont know where its coming from. I noticed the leak coming off of my oil filter and it was replaced today also, when i checked it again today thats where it was leaking from again. So maybe its dripping from somewhere above it?

1) If there arn't any visible obvious leaks, start her up from sitting overnight and let her run until the coolant gauge reads midway. At that point the thermostat should open and start flowing coolant through the radiator. Take your hand and feel both large radiator hoses coming from the radiator. They should both be warm. If one is warm and the other is cold, give it a few more minutes (while watching the engine doesn't get too hot) and feel them both again. If one is hot and the other is still cold, you have a bad thermostat (stuck closed).

2) You can replace the lower ball joints. The upper ball joints come as an upper control arm assembly.

3) Sounds like you have a leaking oil cooler line block gasket. Pretty cheap fix. Gasket is about $6.

Thanks so much! I got my thermostat replaced today and it is now at normal temp! I appreciate your help! Ball joints will be changed soon as well as my tie-rods and then an alignment! Ill defiently have to check into the oil cooler line block gasket! Thanks again! :)
