Ok, today I was driving home from work and came to a light. As I pulled off from the light (normal takeoff) the trans seemed to jump around between gears really fast, took off like the parking brake was on, and then changed to the proper gear. After the next light and same thing happening, the truck lost the trans completely. No manual shifts worked or just in drive itself, only revved up. I pull over and hear what sounds like metal swirling/dragging around in the trans.
I turned the truck off right away. Sat for about 20 minutes contemplating what it could be, started the truck again, and put into drive. Truck moved forward as if the parking brake was on again. Had to take advantage of the truck being able to move, to put it in a safe area. Apon letting off the gas to come to a stop, the trans disengaged again and revved up while being in D,1,2,3 and reverse.
The metal swirling/dragging sound happens again. I haven't a clue what happened or what is not functioning properly. Any advice or input will be greatly appreciated.
