02 tahoe will not shift above second!?

I've been driving my self crazy trying to figure out what going on with the damn transmission in my truck. Driving down the highway at about 70mph in normal conditions, the rpms started to climb and hit 6k. I got on a side road and was able to limp home. The strange thing is, no check engine light came on, no trouble codes read out, the fluid doesn't smell burnt or appear dark and the truck wont shift higher than second gear. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Reverse is still good, for now. But sometimes when I engage reverse it behaves like its I neutral. I shift to park and back, and reverse will engage.

Sounds like a broken sunshell. Mine blew and i lost 2nd and 4th with no reverse. Seems to be pretty common on these trucks around 150k. Mine blew at 160k. Either way sounds like time for a rebuild or a reman trans.

mine did that. Had to have the transmission repaired.

Driving down the interstate, just went to full rpm and no go. once I slowed to 30, it shifted in to 2nd and could drive the last mile home in 2nd. If I tried to go faster and shift into 3rd, it would just rev high.

Mine was at 77,000 miles...

rebuilt. Only because I have good friends/family and got the whole thing rebuilt for $300. My father is a mechanic. The actual cost of the rebuild kit for our tranny is $160. I know because I went to the tranny shop and picked it up.

dam cheap sunshell i hate them too. i had a 02 sierra and that same problem 1st and 2nd worked but reverse didnt. had under 70,000 miles

Dimmer switch removal

I no longer have a dimmer on my 1998 Yukon. I plan to replace it myself. I'm not sure the procedure with the Air bags. Everything else works on the switch and I have tried to fix the existing one. The existing one was burnt for some reason, maybe a wire shorted out. I have found a new one through a online dealer for about 300 dollars less than at a dealer. Any help would be appreciated.

the clutch packs on mine finally went on mine at 150k spent a weekend rebuilding mine
