The Steelman Chassis Ear is a cool tool. My noise is in the rear differential. close to the pinion bearing it makes so much noise you can’t hear anything, so loud it sounds like static. move the pickups away toward the axels you can detect the noise from the ring and pinion, probably a wear pattern. The transfer case is real loud clanging and banging, but it's all the chain noise, the front diff is quiet except you can hear a gear whine under acceleration with the pickup but it's not audible without the device. Looks like I'm in for a rebuild plus a ring and pinion, or just buy a reman unit from Powertrain Products.

I still haven't had a chance to take mine in. I'll be doing the gear fix along with a cam install, Corvette Servo, Servo for 3-4, and a dyno tune once the weather breaks. Finally completing my NA setup!!

I got the pinion bearing kit for my front differential from Summit Racing.

Got it back, they only did a bearing and seal kit, plus axle bearings and seals. I was expecting them to say it needed a ring and pinion but they said it was ok. I still have a gear whine at 45-55 so I'm not thrilled but it is much quieter not a sound under 35mph, I had a high pitch on decel and a grinding rubbing sound at 5-10 mph. Should last but of course resale will be tougher with the whine. Cost me around $575, I say around because I had them do rotors and backing plates while it was apart.
