Hey guys brand new here...washed and waxed my wife's Tahoe today and the side molding on these z71 just make me want to puke... That ugly faded gray just looks like shit...so my project tonight was to strip all of it off the truck in prep for line-x...I'm going to get a quote to have it done at line-x and depending, I might also just use duplicolor bedliner in the cans...have heard good reviews on some other forums I'm on and I just really want to freshen up that ugly gray molding...here's a few pics

Can you take a couple pics of the back side of rear quarter pieces? Thinking of adding them to mine. I think 3m tape and just the clips in the bottom will hold it on. What do you think? Don't want to have to use the riveted brackets.

Try using that Wipe New stuff! It works pretty damn good and lasts a long time. I put it on my bumpers trim pieces, mirrors, and side moldings and made a big difference. I was tempted to do my side steps but didn't want my wife or kids to bust their ass getting in or out of the truck.

Ya I have a similar product from mothers...it works great...problem is this stuff was gray colored from the factory and it just doesn't look right...all the z71 trim that I have ever seen are that dull gray color...so I'm going to paint them...especially now that I already pulled them off

Yeah since you already did that might as well. They'll probably look better with a spray on bed liner anyways.

Ya I'll get some pics of those...off the top of my head...I don't see why that wouldn't work...there is a plastic clip inside the fender(on the flare), and also one underneath the body rocker panel...so without double checking, I'd assume automotive grade 3m might take care of the top side...I sure wouldn't want to add those riveted brackets

Thanks. Yeah, its 2wd, wish I would've forked out for the 4wd but at the time we were on a tight budget. Nah, it was actually easier than I thought and is bright as hell! I love it.

Ya we live in north Idaho so 4wd is a must... Actually kind of hard to even find a 2wd, although they are out there...just came across a 2wd 2005 regency limited edition tahoe about 5 days ago...in awesome shape, I think I'm gonna kick myself for not getting it, pretty rare truck if you ask me...but I'd have to sell this z71 first and I know that regency limited would be gone by that time...and like I said its nice to have the 4 wheel drive, and I try not to bring my 1 ton crew cab out in the nasty salty roads weather, its too nice for that!

We don't have that problem down here in TX. Down here, 4wd is just for fun. When we do get bad weather like snow or ice or even rain for that matter, it doesn't matter if you have 6wd, people just don't know how to drive!

OK srth8r here you go...each side has a total of 4 riveted brackets as you can see...from what I can tell is you'll need the very 2 bottom ones(which are mounted underneath the roll of the body panel so those 2 small holes would most likely never be seen...but they are needed cuz that's what the 2 plastic clips clip into...other than that, I would just 3m take the 2 surfaces that I pointed to...should mount up good after that...let me know if that makes any sense or if you need any more pics before I get it out back together...
