I am going to say YES . It should be that easy. I am doing the same swap in the winter. I have done all the research and this Is what i am doing and should work for you also.
my 6.0 has EGR and my 5.3 don't so I will be using the 5.3 exhaust manifolds and intake and fuel rail. change the knock sensors and harness, silicone the connectors, Retune the PCM in your truck(I have been told its better to use the one that came with your vehicle)
I am getting a towing tune. I have talked to a few turners, I am not liking my local guys but for the info they tell me I will have more power and the same MPG as the 5.3.
For me if i can get that I will be Very happy. To follow I will be getting a BLACK BEAR tune.
Do your research on tuning that's the hardest part. Everyone says they can do it but they can't, Please let me know how you make out. I will have updates when I start mine.

It's a viscous cycle. If u start upgrading it will snowball. I started a motor swap, decided to changed the cam and I ended up changing everything except the intake lol..i have the Autocal from BBP and it's pretty straight forward. My longtubes have an EGR port so it should bolt up.

I ran a 6.0 pcm on my 5.3 due to a tuning issue with my cooling fans after they were activated so it should work the other way as well..

It sure does. I am trying to keep it simple. LETS SEE HOW THAT GOES! I just want a bit more that what was available from factory and I think with what I am going to do I will be more than happy. I love the truck now so a little more won't hurt HAHAHA

I'm wanting to go with a different cam while the motor is out since it'll be easier to do instead of pulling the whole front end off to change the cam later
