yes i do realize there are the 3 terminals. my question was which of the 2 jacks that you showed pictures of were able to withstand solder heat.
i was asking as i couldnt find that top jack (the round one) anywhere, as the ebay links ran into a dead end and found out that seller doesnt offer them anymore. but right before i logged off lastnite, i found the round jack on amazon and was able to purchase that, so that kind of solved my question. cant wait to get my jack in the mail and listen to my songs on my phone, as im too lazy to transfer songs from phone, to pc, to burn to a cd lol. trying to save some steps :emotions133:

Ok sorry about that. The answer is still the same though. All of mine were able to withstand the heat if the solder

got my parts and pieces to do this install/mod today. got my wires spliced in and crimped. turned the key on to see if it works. got "sirius error" and it kicked to am/fm and no matter what i did it would not register or recognize the xm. so im thinking i really screwed up. then realized i still had the plug that i spliced into still unplugged from the xm tuner (fail). plugged it in, and everything works flawlessly.

thanks to the op for putting this up, easiest mod ive done to date.

I wish I could go this to my 01 Denali, it has the 6 CD changer and a non functioning OnStar. I wonder if I could tap into the Onstar box and use it's output for my Garmin.

I think the best way is the way I installed mine

That didn't come until 2003.

I installed a flip up Alpine IVA-D310 Screen where the 6 disc single DIN change was and that is my control Hub. I can run my movies my Navigation, my IPod, and my Rearview camera from. I put a single DIN Flip up Alpine screen where the regular stock radio is installed and this unit is made just for viewing movies and Running the IPod Also on Screen. The Alpine D310 Has an IPod Module that connects to the Alpine and you can run it from on screen and you can have the IPod hidden under the seat or behind the plastics on the door. No matter where its at it has connectivity to your IPod. Plus the D310 has an IVA M300 Navigation module that is no bigger than a cell phone and they got away from the stupid discs you needed to have navigation. This little Box connects to your brain and runs your navigation from your Alpine D310, It can be navigating while everyone else in the Denali are watching a movie. I can run movies on all 3 monitors or different movies on each one including head phones. I forgot I installed a 21" Alpine Touch Screen Monitor in the back for the children. That was a ***** because I have a roll back moon roof so I had to custom mount the screen around the moon roof so that remained operable and it works like a champ.I put Limousine tint in the back over the stock tint so I have zero light coming through so they have zero glare on the LCD Screen. I put 50% tint on my front ones, including the stock tint which makes it about 30% light in in the front and that's illegal and I'm just waiting to get pulled over and if I do?? I need to close up all the front stereo screens because its illegal to watch movies and drive. If any one needs pictures of my set up and how I did it I can send you some pictures.

I found this thread really late, but am glad I did. I currently have a USA-SPEC input that's installed on my 2003 Yukon. However, I got it installed YEARS ago and it only works with the older iPods and iPhones. Now I have an iPhone 5 and need to get that to where I can listen to it. Here's my question...I don't think I have the XM tuner box you're talking about. I haven't looked thoroughly yet but will tonight after work. However, I know my current USA-SPEC unit is wired through the XM because when I want to listen to it, I hit the FM button until it gets to XM-1 or XM-2. So does that mean I definitely have the XM tuner? This would save me so much time effort and money if I do and can do this wire up. Thanks.
