Had that thought, too, but my brake lights come off and on like you'd expect when the brake pedal is depressed and let off
My Tahoe did this too, and it was the brake switch above the brake pedal. My brake lights did work with the old switch, but my cruise did not work. I replaced the switch, and my cruise worked again.

Really? Well alright. I’ll give it a try and see what happens. Wonder what about the switch fails where the lights still work but not cruise :hmm: that’s interesting

Didn't want to listen to me huh? :slap:

I think the brake lights work off a reading of the brake fluid pressure somehow. Easy test is to just unplug that switch and see if your brake lights still light up. You can do it in your comfy garage in slippers, now man up and do it. Remember the key needs to be on too. And report back what you find. :Sumo:

I blame the gremlins inside the brake switch!!

@07Burb probably wouldn't hurt to check the switch on the parking brake pedal too while under there, just vacuum or blow it out. Preventive maint. Remember mine?
