How hard is it to pull these apart? I just got a set of these and I need to get mine painted as well.

Pull the mirror off
push the top back off
take the tilt motor off
pull the lower housing off
pull the surround off.

Face the mirror down and then grab the top of the mirror and pull firmly.

Now that I've done it twice, I could do it all day long. Takes about 5 minutes to completely disassemble. The first one will take about 15 minutes... lol

Thanks for the info, sounds kinda intimidating. maybe I''l just let the body shop do that part. I'd hate to screw up a brand new set of mirrors

here ya go...

Mirror.jpg

I hate to revive such and old thread but I've not seen the answer elsewhere.

Is it possible to add the whole chome trim piece from the Escalade windows (which includes the blacked out B pillar) to the Tahoe/Yukon? I'm guessing that would solve the problem with this gap.

Mirrors look awesome though and I'm considering it for mine.

Nope. It's the entire window trim surround and it's different. You'd have to install an Esky DOOR to do it.

The gap honestly isn't that bad. I did this mod on an old vehicle and I'd do it again. Even with the gap.

Well that is a bit more of a project than I'm looking for. :)

How much of the mirror can you piece together by combining old and new mirrors (I've got a 12 with power fold, blind spot, and red signals)? Can you re-use the top cap or will you need to get the entire mirror painted to match?

I see some on eBay but most have broken power fold. Is that tough to fix?
