Installed a catch can in my Yukon to help with the oil consumption and oil in intake. Caught 4 oz in 400-500 miles of highway driving. Installed the update valve cover and now in 750 miles have NO oil in the catch can and no oil consumed. Thanks for the info on the valve cover!!

Read a posting about oil consumption and valve cover upgrading, here is the link:

http://www.silveradosierra.com/vortec-5-3l-v8/another-lost-oil-question-fix-t368481.html

The issue is the both valve covers for 2007-2008 and 2009-2011 are interchangeable, even GM claims that those covers are for specific years. The PCV orifice is different for each. The correct cover must be used or an SES light may set.

The only difference between those 2 covers, GM # 12570427 and GM # 12642655, is PCV orifice tubing fitting diameter.

But there is a big price difference, GM # 12570427 is double price of GM # 12642655.

If yon can make valvle cover GM # 12642655 connecting to you 2007-2008 Chevy truck PCV tubing, you could save around $50.

GM P/N 12570427 for 2007 - 2008
GM P/N 12642655 for 2009 - 2011

What are the odds my 2014 was built with an old style?

I have AFM deleted and a catch can, drove 200 miles and surprised at how much oil was back in the can, about a teaspoon!

This fixed my truck as well. I deleted DOD first, that did nothing. Valve cover was the problem.

Local dealer wanted $150 for it (12570427), GM Parts direct has it listed for $89.88, I'll be ordering soon.
