Yea the 2012 hitch cover is completely different from the 07-11 Esky/Denali hitch covers.

So it seems as if my 2012 Denali hitch cover/step pad/sensors would all be a direct fit with this Premium bumper cover?

No it won't unfortunately. Sorry I should've specified. This 2012 bumper comes only on the 2012 escalade premium. The '12 Denali has the same bumper cover/hitch cover as its been having since 2007. The only change the hitch covers had was in 09 when they added two extra clips that attach to the bumper cover for extra support. So if you did upgrade bumper covers you'd have to get the new hitch cover also. Not sure about the step pad/sensors though.

Hitch cover is narrower cause it doesn't have to hide a hoist access, as that bumper has none. The step pad and chrome trim are the same. And I'm pretty sure the current sensors will attach to it.
