Looks off, should be over toward the “8” triangle with the balancer mark lined up. The flat part of the distributor would be more parallel to the intake. I’d try to shift it over a tooth.

Do I need to find top dead center again and start over or do you think I can take it out and drop it in?

If your balancer/timing cover marks are aligned and it ran when the rotor was like this, just drop it in.
Alright, piston is at TDC for sure, I’m wondering because I’ve done this so many times yet it doesn’t work the way I want it to. I know the rotor should be to #1 spark plug, and I get it to that point every time but I can never do the CMP offset. is there a certain direction I’m supposed to put the distributor in? I can’t find a guide on it. Other than the way I’m originally doing it. I’d imagine there’s only so many ways before it doesn’t line up with #1.

TDC of compression stroke?

A couple posts up, I added the image from the manual showing the install orientation. The cap’s plug wire boots perpendicular to engine centerline, flat spot of the distributor parallel to the intake. When it seats, the rotor will be near the “8” triangle marker.

There should be a little mark of some sort on the distributor shaft that you’ll line up with the gear pin to help align the initial rotor position.

Yup, just did that. I’m in the same issue again lol! Can’t turn the distributor more than bumping the intake, and I’m still positive 19.0. Not fun. I’m not sure how I’m doing this wrong. Been following everyone’s guides plus YouTube…Maybe I should post the video I watched here as reference.
