It does have a alignment mark, I make absolutely certain to line it up. When I get it seated, it's just like what his picture looks like. Maybe I should get it to TDC and see if the rotor is still pointing to #1 again? If it's not, I suppose I'll have to start over. If I do have to start over, does that mean I'm off a tooth? Just having a real hard time understanding why I can't get it to the correct offset. That looks correct. Does your distributor have an alignment mark on the shaft?
Regardless, it’ll start about here when the gears first mesh…

And then turn to about here at the “8” triangle when it aligns with the oil pump shaft and drops into place…

…Keeping the flat part parallel to the back of the intake the whole time.
Yessir it does run.Forgot to ask…so it does start and run now, right?
Gonna go get it to TDC and see where it's at, and yes, stock hold down clamp. If it’s running, it should be at TDC compression. Got an updated picture of it seated pointing at 8 triangle? You’re using the stock hold down clamp?
Here’s the issue before I take it off, #1 terminal bumps intake so I can’t move it anymore to correct offset. Taking off cap and rotating now, will post pic of what it looks like.
Looking at the scanner, clockwise Is going towards negative and counter clockwise is going positive. For example, if I turn it so it’s center it’ll give me a 35 degree positive. When I go all the way against the intake, it’s 19 degrees, positive still. So it has to go in that direction I believe.I forget which way it’s turned (clockwise or counter) to correct for a positive or negative CMP, but if you turn this all the way counter-clockwise then you’re getting a more-positive number?
That screw tab in the lower left nearly hits the intake on all three of my 350s.
