Just picked this one up a couple weeks ago. Original owner with 253k, Well taken care of, but the steering is a bit sloppy. I've been doing some research and it is across the board on fixes. This is a clean truck wow, spent some time in the garage with her last night....uffdhaaa. what a red head....

easiest thing to check is your pitman and idler arms as they can be checked visually on the ground. another easy visual check is above the steering box is a coupler with what is basically a piece of tire being used as the actual coupler. if the pitman arms are moving and the tires aren't change those. also if the upper part of the steering shaft is moving and the lower isnt change that coupler. everything else will be your end links or a worn steering gear box.
Get a helper to turn steering wheel back and forth, put a big wrench on steering gear coupler or vise grip shaft. Wobble steering wheel feeling for play. That eliminates everything before steering gear worn. Then crawl under truck and look at all the tie rods, idler, pittmann while helper gently rocks wheel.
