So I already felt bad about not replacing the plugs, and your post gave me the shameful motivation I needed to bite the bullet and get it done :)

Spent a couple hours in the garage this morning and, except for not having a lot of room to work with on the driver side, it went pretty well. Drove it in town to pick up lunch for the family (didn't get above 45 mph) and didn't notice much of a difference, but I'm driving across DFW later this evening so hopefully I'll notice a difference on the highway/getting up to highway speeds.

Update: I drove ~30 minutes across town and back with no noticeable difference in acceleration or performance.

Thank you everyone for the help and confidence you gave me to get this job done. My main mechanic shop quoted me $1000. I did it for $130 in parts, including a magnetic spark plug socket that the auto parts store lady said would make the job easier. The plugs were in horrendous condition. They probably were original. All done, about 4 hours total and it runs great. Thanks again. On to the next 200,000!

Great job! Sounds like you can justify spending some of the money you saved on a new gun, a new pair of shoes, or whatever floats your boat.
