My 2003 Tahoe has 203K on the clock. Does not burn a drop of oil between changes. I use what ever is on sale at Walmart when they do the change. I change it either 6 months or 3000-3500 miles depending on how much driven. It has a minor tick when started in cold weather but that goes away after it begins to warm up.
Do you have the 4.8 or t.3?

Mine had 240,000 miles on it before I tinkered with the engine and shot a rod through the side of the block haha... I bought it from a guy who bought it from another guy who... etc. etc. etc. It had been the last owner's off road machine beat to death. Probably not smartest purchase in my life. That aside, I can tell you the failure modes of this truck haha... The motor and transmission are NOT easily broken despite wankey noises they may make. I had the lifter tick but fixed it with Berryman B12 and engine flush. Ran like an absolute tank before I blew it up. Now building it back better with 6.0L etc.
