I love the AWD. When I really need to have 4wd instead of AWD I wouldn't want to be in an SUV, let alone a stock height one. Unless you slide off the road and get stuck, AWD will work fine. if you're driving in deep snow, I'd want something lifted, and with a bed to put weight in. There's a reason I plow in a regular cab w/t with a four inch lift and not in my denali, and it's much more than just the AWD. Believe me, I'd prefer the space and the heated leather, but I can put 2000lbs in the bed and I don't get hung up anywhere near as often.
But just driving around in slippery conditions the AWD is fine, just anticipate when it's going to kick in.
