Welp got lucky the color evened out to a true 6k, won’t have to send them back. Color is much whiter in person not sure why the iPhone makes it appear so yellow. Either way I’m happy with the new color and the light output, they are far brighter than the 10k bulbs.8C65FCD6-DACC-4277-B6AE-8FD7D510739D.jpeg

Random pic driving to work today cause I love where I live and the roads are beautiful in the morning light lol.

Yep 10 k isn't the best for actual usable light.

Well I’m putting together the new headlight and tail light build. Since I will be doing the HD hood and paint matching grilled and bumpers this summer it is time to attack my headlights. The smoked look needs to go away since the grille will be blue and there wont be any chrome to break up the front end. Here is where I am at now, chime in, offer suggestions, share links to other great products and ideas I am not 100%

Heads: I have two options on the table.
Option 1:
I really like the internal look of the lights I have now, I just want chrome not black. I love the 2 side LED marker lights, I dont really care about the halos but that’s how they come and if I open anyway I can change all that around.
So these are identical to what I have now just clear lens and chrome. They are plastic lens and I dont think the tend to last very long, the ones I have now are crap after 3 years.

TRS internals: they released a quick-swap projector package for the Spyder headlights. You get to swap out the crap projector for a nice Morimoto and it’s super easy to swap them out. I get the led markers I like, I get upgraded projectors, and I was going to take my stock mounts and try to retro fit them to these housing so they won’t wobble and will hopefully be stronger. That pretty much just leaves the weak plastic lens which will get nasty and fade in 3-4years. But if I did it right I think I could just buy new housings for cheap when the lens go bad and swap the stuff around easy peasy......

Option 2:
I saw these and thought about doing a standard retro fit, if they really have glass lens that would be awesome.....I would use all the same stuff above from TRS just get the proper projector and should to do a standard retrofit.

Not sure what I want to do, I know the glass will be more factory and probably hold up longer, I could try retrofitting marker lights in the glass housing if its that important to me....I just dont know.....

Tails: Not as in depth of a topic as the headlights but just as big of a decision.

Recon makes these and oh my gawd they look beautiful, I would send them off like everyone does and have the internals paintmatched if I got the black ones, or leave them as is and get the dark red ones. But that’s some serious cheddar for tail lights. Are they worth it, do they really last that much longer than the cheap ones. I could pick up 5-6 cheap sets for that price and have tails for everyday of the week haha.

Black ones which I would paintmatch internals

Dark red which I would leave as is.

And we all know VIP Motoz and Spyder sell similar OLED taillights. And I can get those paintmatched just as easily as I can the Recons. They don’t offer the Dark red color way in these from VIPMotoZ or Spyder from what I have seen.

IMO I would do oem housing with the TRS internals. Then for the rear I like the smoked red.

Where is everyone getting glass lenses for these stock housing? I have my factory lights and they’re in good shape just need the clear glass lens for them. I might just roll the dice and see if those VIPMotoz lights are actually glass and if not send back.

I like the OEM headlight look, so I’d retro those. As for the tails, screw $400 for tail lights. My buddy has some of the spyder tails, they’re LED and he just waxed them every time he waxes the truck and they’re still mint 4 years later.

Feel the same way about the price, I can’t image the quality of s plastic housing can be that much better.

When I rotated my tires I documented the fact that when I set the front of truck down after having the wheels in the air it sits up higher until I drive it again. 1.75” higher to be exact.

45.5” fresh off the jack stands

43.75” after driving

No real point to this other than a guy asked about it and it made me want to see the numbers.
