Ok. Still same thing here. Cold start gave me oil pressure 40. After idling for 15 minutes it dropped to 20. But the funny thing is that I saw pressure of 20 when engine was cold and not running, ignition off and truck was locked. Bought a filter Fram and will do oil change again for regular oil non synthetic. By the way, oil was changed a week ago and it's already dark. I think it dissolved some sludge.
Make sure it’s the Fram Ultra. The regular Fram isn’t all that great. The Wix filters are great too.

Has the cluster ever been rebuilt?
Sounds to me like the oil pressure stepper motor needs to be replaced (but do them all while you're at it).
The OE stepper motors do go bad, common issue in these.
Lots of YouTube videos on cluster repair.
Bet this will go underappreciated.
My '02 'idles at 400RpM' for months now, despite that the engine sounds and continues to behave just fine.

@makintoshnex, did you have the oil pressure checked with an external gauge?

I'll correct my wording -- I didn't realize this is a 2001. So the motors for the gauges are air core stepper motors.

Are you sure it fits. Rock Auto doesn't give me it for 8.1

I don't think @Rocket Man was saying that specific filter would fit your engine, but just the correct "ultra" one for your application. Maybe FRAM doesn't make an Ultra for your engine.

FWIW it would be helpful to put some vehicle info in your signature so it's available every time you post. That way we'll have a good idea about what you're working on without having to work back through a thread. Help us help you.

I didn’t know you had the 8.1, my bad. I don’t see the Fram ultra for that engine. I’d go with a Wix in that case. Either their standard for regular oil or if you’re running synthetic oil, their XP. I see your engine type in your signature now.
