My brother has the twin to my truck he has an 2001 suburban 6.0 2500. We are having a lot of problems with diagnosing his starting and running problem, he has already replaced the fuel pump in the main tank twice, yesterday was the first time for me crawling under there and realized he has two gas tanks I've never seen that before on our trucks so here's my question

He has replaced the fuel pump within last two weeks, we also replaced the fuel relay under the hood main fuse box we also replaced inline fuel filter at the same time sometimes the fuel pump works fine he can start the truck and drive it it will die at random times while driving though.... Does anyone know if there is a different relay we need to replace ? If one pump isn't working do both pumps stop and I do believe there is two fuel pumps but I cannot confirm that . any help would be appreciated

Sorry, but this should be moved to

Other GM/Crossover Models
Suburban/Yukon XL/Escalade ESV

for better and more responses.

There is 2 fuel pumps depending on the tank. Need to know if he is losing fuel pressure when it dies. You can get a decent fuel pressure kit at Harbor freight that has the extension that allows for the gauge to come out back of hood and tape to windshield to monitor pressure. May be losing spark instead. I don't believe there is a different relay? Do you have a tank switch? If do then should be able to run from either tank if switched because one is not working but if no switch then likely need both pumps to work? I am unsure on that.

There is no tank switch I've thought of that and yes he loses pressure the pump will not come on and no pressure to the fuel rail so I'm running out of things to check truck will crank fine
