Ive done some searching and have either missed it or couldn't find a good solution, so I apologize if this is repetitive. I have a 2001 2WD Tahoe 5.3 with 215K miles on it. A couple of days ago I began noticing a slight shudder (felt like skipping), with a noticeable fluctuation of RPMs at highway speeds (45-50 MPH) when giving slight acceleration to maintain speed. Increase in speed and the shudder stops. I first thought it was possibly a plug/wire issue until the next morning when I noticed it shifting a little hard from 1st into 2nd gear. On my way home from work, I stopped at a red light and when I went to take off, I gave it gas and it barely moved. It appeared as though the transmission didn't downshift back into 1st gear and was trying to take off in OD or 3rd gear. I couldn't manually shift it either. It did this the rest of the way home. Reverse works, but vehicle still wouldn't downshift.

I checked the transmission fluid, it was a little dark and about a 1/2 quart low, so I added some to top it off. Next morning I drove around the block. I started in first gear and shifted as it should, but at my first stop, it failed to downshift again and we're back where we left off the day before. Please help! At this point, I just don't really know what direction to go. No CEL illuminated. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
