My wife's ride is a 2003 Tahoe 5.3 4x4 with about 140,000 miles. We bought it from one of her cousin's who's children had grown up and moved out.

First problem is it has a rough idle and has cut off a couple times. Changed air filter fuel filter and ran some fuel system cleaner. Also replaced mass air flow sensor recently. Next on my list is plugs and cleaning throttle body. This model doesn't have idle air control valve. Any other ideas or experience with this?

Second problem is the instrument cluster keeps scrolling between English, Spanish, French. It will not let me select English or show any other info such as mileage etc. Do I need a new instrument cluster?

Any help appreciated.

I would clean the throttle body for sure, usually what my truck needs when the idle get rough. Crazy how dirty those get!
Also, do you have the DIC (Driver Information Center) control in the center console below the radio? Might have a sticky button on it causing to cycle through the languages!

I had a 2000 NBS, but now I have a 2003. And I have to admit that I had less problems with the 2000. Strangely enough since the 2000 should have had more of all the "birth" problems.
Maybe my experience with the 2003 is because of more electronics or cheaper parts?
Most of the problems are electrical/electronic on my 2003. But I do prefer the 2003 because they have more options. Should only wish I had the 2005+ with the electric fan, but that I will do myself.
