Hello, my 5.3L 2005 Yukon 4x4 has went out and I read online that it has a 4L60e in it. I looked online and found a 4L60e from a 2004 GMC envoy for a good price. Would a 2004 4L60e from a GMC envoy fit in my 2005 Yukon? I know its just a 1 year gap but I just want to make sure there aren't any missing things in the 2004 model that would cause problems in my 2005 yukon. Thanks for all and happy holidays!

Interchange that I looked at says no. As a matter of fact not only are you limited to the envoy/trailblazer chassis but also has to be a 2004 model year. Doublecheck with your local salvage yard or a tranny shop but it looks like full size chassis is a no go for you.

I think he’s trying to use an Envoy 4L60 in his Yukon, but either way, sounds like a dead end.

If the envoy is a 5.3 equipped vehicle it would work. As the bellhousing is the same as the trucks. But a 6 cylinder 4200 transmission will not work
Yeah it's the 6 cylinder model, but can't I just change the Bell housing from the yukon into the one in the envoy to make it fit? I see on youtube you can remove the Bell housing on a 4L60e with just some Star shaped bolts.

The envoy is a 4L60e and the chassis can't be a problem if the Yukon also has a 4L60e right? What dead end could there be if they are the same transmission

Hypothetically, yes. As i know some guys use the 6 cylinder torque converter to get a little more stall speed without going to a high dollar converter.. i would think just changing the bellhousing SHOULD work. BUT, i myself am not 100 percent positive.
Also, i personally have stripped out the torx bolts that hold the bell on to the case. So of you choose to go this route, be very careful.

So i just looked up the pinouts for a Trailblazer vs a Tahoe/Yukon and the connector is wired the same. I guess if you go this way, definitely post back and let us know how it works.
I wanted to check pinouts because the full size has uses a P59 computer and the Trailblazer uses i THINK a p38 or e38? I dont recall, but i know it is a different processor. But as long as the wiring is the same that should not matter.
Good luck

Greetings, I have used a trailblazer/envoy 4l60E behind a 2003 5.3L after swapping the bellhousings as you mentioned, As well as the tailshaft extension housing from a 5 bolt case flange to a 6 bolt case flange. I cant recall the year I used but do remember the color of the transmission plug must match and if your dead 4l60e has input speed sensor then the new one must too as well.

Yeah hears something about plug colors at one time, and yes the 4l70e has the iss so those vehicles have to use a 4l70e. But a 60e can be replaced with a 70e.
