On the avalanche I have to hold the lock and u lock button on the key fob at the same time and the horn beeps. Front driver tire until the horn blows then work my way around the vehicle. Move the tool around, even pointing it at the valance stem from the tread side of the tire, or straight down behind the valve stem. The first time I used my tool I couldn't get it to work. I followed the directions, nothing. Started moving it around the tire and it started working

I’ve tried moving the programmer around the valve stem and even touched it to the stem, tire sidewall, and wheel itself hoping it would work but nothing.
I have to move mine around too. Just when I think its not working, it works.

What I’ve been doing is as follows. Turn ignition to on
Cycle headlight switch from parking lamp to off four times. After the fourth time the truck honks and flashes the tire low light repeatedly telling me it’s in program mode.

Then I go to the driver front tire and point the scanner at the sensor while pressing the button on it. Nothing happens even after a full 1-60 Mississippis. I’ve tried starting with different tires as well but no luck.

Then I get mad and give up.

That would put me well into the teens on how many times I’ve tried.
Try it flat against the sidewall. Or pointing directly into the tread of the tire. Read the reviews from your specific purchase. They have tips (what I did after I tried mine and got pissed and threw it in the tool box).

Also, go behind the valve stem on the wheel and point directly at that. It seems every tire on my Yukon required something different this last time I did it

Guess I’ll try these tomorrow but hopefully at lunch I can get to discount tire where they should try to program them for free.
