You have a plane too? If some come on down to americas seaplane city! Tavares FL FA1 I’ll get you some swag lol.

It’s funny we say all the time there’s really only two types of seaplane pilots. Really darn good ones that are all around studs and high performers. Then not very competent ones which sometimes it’s because they just aren’t super smart, sometimes it’s lack of experience, or bad state of mind. But man it’s so easy to spot good vs bad ones.
Ah… another addict! I sold my share in my plane in 2023 because I’d moved to VA in 2019 and it was still in Colorado with the other 2 owners. It’s a ‘64 Cessna 182 and I flew it all over the western and central US, plus Alaska and western Canada.

Haven’t flown floats since I got my rating, but I agree with you. I spent a summer working for a seaplane service out of Lake Hood in Anchorage as a guide and we’d land on rivers and creeks across the Cook Inlet in the shadow of Denali to drop off/pick up fisherman. Those pilots were good - very few incidents and no fatal accidents in the 30 year history of the company by that time.

I agree - A good pilot is an artist. You know it when you see it.

Artist is a great way to describe it! I’m no pilot just a lowly airport manager, but with that comes seeing a lot of mistakes and legends lol.

We have a guy that summers in Alaska and recently got on with our part135 operation. I’ll never forget his first day flying tours on a busy Saturday and he stepped out of their 206 on amphibs and said “I’ve never seen such a dangerous place to fly” he said that while wearing a t shirt that said something about being an Alaskan bush pilot, which is obviously about the most badarse thing you can be. But what Alaska doesn’t have is a beach bar 100yards from the seaplane apron/fuel dock and he said he prefers struggling with alaskas wildlife, weather, and wilderness vs our mass of drunk boaters shooting every direction and never looming up for planes. Good times, aviation is never dull.

That’s what I was saying darn tough socks are the only option these days. Darn they are expensive but also tough and no blisters are kinda nice.

The plane done wrecked itself, low experience pilot recently purchased the plane and basically bounced off the water during landing didn’t hold the nose up and it nosed down ripped the entire front to bits and flipped upside down in the water. Nearly killed both occupants, one dude had like 40 face/head stitches, the other dude had a big ole booperoo on his head. They got rescued by passing boaters and I coordinated the recovery, pretty gnarly very glad they lived. Also I have the wings if anyone is interested in them before I cut them to pieces and cram them in a dumpster lol.

Ended up helping the owner sell the wreckage to some nice guys in an avalanche with a really crappy trailer. We happened to have had our biggest event of the year the next weekend and having that on our apron would have been a Debbie downer.
I missed that completely. wasn't thing about socks until the #.

We're darn tough bros:love62:

Dude looking like "Welp, another day in paradise"

Is it unethical to get weld splatter burn holes in darn tough socks and return them for a free new pair?
Lifetime warranty is Lifetime warranty. I somehow got holes in two socks, on the bottom. They aren't very old. Wondering if I had something in my shoe that was rubbing it. Havent done the warranty thing yet, but I'm going to give it a shot eventually.
