I used wire snips like these:
To cut the black bands that retain the snap-on piece inside the connector.
I snipped where the yellow lines were and snapped out the bit marked with the red X, did the same on the opposite side.
Black part of the T comes right off. Then, you can slip the white snap-on piece off of the heater core tube.
Easy-peasy.
I was lucky to be one town over and my son could bring those basic tools to me and get me a ride to pick up the new T connector and coolant at NAPA down the street.
