130K on the 4L60E now,The idea is when it quits and it will, a direct swap when possible and upgrade to something better.
I know a unicorn Pipe-dream or what.
not alot of information since 2007 to 2010 posts with regards to this subject.
and it seems the best was the 4L60E to 4L80E.
I was really hoping to check the forums and locate somebody that has done it one way or another.
Please advise.

You're better off to buy a newer truck that already has the 6L80E. Otherwise you'll spend more money trying to convert it and there is no telling if it will work. You're talking about changing just about everything that is connected to your transmission now including the transmission mounts, the entire wiring harnesses and PCM and possibly even the ECM. I believe that the length is different so you might even have to change driveshafts

Just beef up your 4L60E. Get a upgraded hardened sun shell, a five gear planetary set, some performance clutch packs, corvette servos and a wider clutch band

I'm about ready to do mine in a month or so just saving up the funds. I'm putting out approximately 400 horsepower at the crank and with the cam I have I've already bought a Hughes stall converter.

Swap to a 4l65e or a built 4l60e or 4l65e. It's not that much more to get a build vs a rebuild.

You should have quite a while left on your trans unless you absolutely destroyed it. My work truck has 190 with the stock trans and my denali has 292

Yep, keep it simple. A properly built 60 will give you years of trouble free service. Add in a nice Circle D converter and it will feel like a whole new truck.

My 4L60E has 190k on it and it still works fine, but with all the engine upgrades I.E. TB,headers,MAS,cam/lifters ,CAI,3.90 gears I'm not sure how much longer it will last. So I've been buying Performance parts for it so that the cost isn't as much when it does go out.
