Is it normal for my Yukon with 91K miles to "burn/use" about a quart of oil during oil changes? I use synthetic oil every 7K miles.

Thanks.

I don't know if it's normal, but my 6.0 burns about 1 quart for every oil change, and I change mine around 5k!

Same, similar mileage as mine Chris?

No, actually mine is in the 140k range if I remember right! And also I'd say that it's been really that bad for the last 20k where as before that it would burn some but not enough to care or notice!

"normal" is kind of a broad brush. I say it's definitely not unheard of with the 5.3's. I know mine does it. There is a fix for it out there. Let me do some Googling and I'll throw up a link for you. I believe most people just leave it because the work involved is not always worth it for a quart every 3k miles..... BRB

Actually I'm not finding much as it pertains to 2006 model. 99-02 had this issue and was fixed with a different style PCV valve. Then in 07+ I'm seeing a lot of talk on it and they say it's due to the Active Fuel Management technology  Does yours have AFM, JW? If not, I'd be inclined to think it might be your PCV.

AFM technology is when the cylinders switch from 8 to 4, correct? If it is correct, I do not have that.

What is all involved in switching the PCV Valve, what is it used for and what will it do to "burn" less oil?

So there is nothing wrong with the engine, it is considered to be somewhat "normal", yes? So even if I do nothing and continue to add the oil every so often, no harm done.

Sorry, I am a little green there.

Well, I have a 2001 5.3 and I had an oil change done at pepboys, asked for synthetic and not even a month later, Low oil light came on. I checked dip stick and it was dry. Threw in a couple of quarts and back to where it should be. It must have been the oil they used because I put in Royal Purple and consumption stopped.

Also I don't have any oil leaks. There are no oil spots under my Tahoe. I have over 200k on the clock. I'm now using Royal Purple 10w30.

Nope, nothing wrong with the engine itself at all. Just continue getting regular oil changes and check it every so often and you'll be fine.
