I have a 2006 Yukon XL 1500. I have a solar panel and regulator connected to the rear lighter socket. I have a number of two way radios connected to a timer circuit triggered by a feed from the IGN 0 fuse in the dash. This fuse normally goes live when the ignition is turned on thereby activating the equipment. When the key is turned off the timer begins and shuts down the equipment when it times out.
The problem appears when the key is off and the solar panel charges the battery up to its maximum of about 13.8 volts such as would happen with the morning sun. For some reason the IGN 0 fuse normally live only with the key on becomes live and triggers the timer turning on the equipment. This also happens when a battery charger is used connected directly to the battery. It appears to only happen when the battery voltage goes up to a certain limit.
Anyone know why this could happen?
