I have an 07 Tahoe LTZ 5.3. I am having some kind of starter issue that started last week. When I turn the key to start the truck it keeps cranking even when I let the key go and turn the ignition off and remove the key. It just keeps cranking so I have to disconnect the battery for it to stop cranking. I reconnect the battery after it stops cranking and start the process all over again. After three attempts, it finally starts as normal and I dont have any issues for the rest of the day. Now as of yesterday, the trucks cranks and starts but now the starter stays engaged and I have to turn ignition off and disconnect the battery. It doesnt happen all the time but its now getting more frequent. Any thought Chevy gurus!!!!!

well try swapping the starter relay in the under hood fuse box for starters, not a pun ;)
if you look under the top of the fuse box cover it shows which is the starter relay, simply swap it with the headlight one or something they are all the same.

It could be the starter relay and/or the solenoid that pushes the starter gear to engage the motor's flywheel gear. Me recommendation is to purchase a new starter at RockAuto.com, GMPartsGiant.com, or GMPartsDirect.com, whichever has the best price.

I will start with the starter relay first since that is the cheapest. A mechanic said it could be my ignition or possibly the starter also. Aughhhhh

Is the starter actually cranking the engine even after the engine is running or is it just spinning with the engine as if the gears are staying engaged?

As mentioned, next time it happens, pop the relay out or just tap it with the handle of a screwdriver.

Well I have checked the fuses and relays and they are good. Mechanics are telling me it could be ignition switch or starter. I just hate when they says "we will try this first". Usually cost me money when they say that. I bought an AC Delco ignition switch so I will try that this weekend. Looks like I have to take column apart. When I start the truck sometimes it will start the truck and keep cranking then I have to turn the ignition off and disconnect the battery for it to stop cranking or sometimes it will just keep cranking without starting the truck and I have to disconnect the battery. So Weird! Thanks for the input guys!!!
