So I have a 2007 GMC Yukon SLT (8th digit 0) and my motor recently seized. I can’t find anything but Gen 3 5.3’s in my area and a few of them are actually under 100k miles and at a good price. What would I need to do to put a Gen 3 in my Yukon to replace that Gen 4? Is it a lot of work or would it be a pretty easy thing to make work?

Let’s flip this for ya. Shop for a Non AFM / DOD 6.0L from a 2500 or 3500 HD gasser truck. The later 12-14 engines are flex fuel capable and all run in regular gas. It’s a 360/380 hp/tq motor when taken from a truck. The Van motors are detuned to 322 hp. Iron block, aluminum heads.

That’s a great upgrade from the 320hp 5.3L that has AFM. The 6.0L is a drop in motor that’ll actually raise the value of the truck and not beat up the trans. All you’ll need is something like hypertuners to turn off the AFM software and use all your existing ECM, TCM, BCM, etc ad the 6.0L has no AFM.
