I put all four inside and all four outside door handles to the test and didn't notice anything. I also called a Chevrolet dealer and gave the service manager the VIN. He said three recalls had been done (don't remember what they were) and that there were no outstanding recalls for the truck. He also mentioned that the PCM was replaced under warranty in April 2010.

I didn't closely inspect the dash but I would think a crack would stand out to me. Is there a particular place where the crack occurs? Honestly, from the looks of the vehicle, I would bet it has spent a lot of time in a garage and out of sunlight.

I have a very reputable mechanic lined up to go through it if I decide to buy so that would be the final step before signing the papers.

Seems to me you have already pretty much made up your mind anyhow.

The crack would be a fine hairline crack which you will have to look closely for.

And I am sorry, with a 116K miles on an '07, it is not possible for it to have spent a lot of time in the garage, at least not during the day. :)

If I had already made up my mind I wouldn't be asking for opinions on this forum. Obviously I have reservations about buying a high mileage vehicle but mostly all I've gotten are responses about how bad the price is and that I should buy someone else's vehicle instead.

So everyone else including me told you what you could buy another one for and that is not what you wanted? I think you got every different type of answer you could.

Good point. And no, they don't.

Ok, edmunds.com lists the same vehicle at $21,300 True Market Value Dealer Retail. Is that more along the lines of what everyone here was thinking it's worth?

Lets forget price for a minute and give me your opinions on this vehicle based on it's mileage? Visually it's in excellent shape and I noticed nothing during the test drive. If I have a mechanic check it out and he finds nothing, is 116k miles on an '07 something to shy away from?

If they would come down to that price, I would not be concerned since it sounds like you want that truck. BUT, that $21.3K price is considered full retail value and if they're not giving anything else such as an extended warranty or full value for your trade (which you'll never get since they have to resell it or worse, take it to auction), I say pass. In general, I NEVER trade in a vehicle to a dealer for that reason. The man's in business to make money so there HAS to be some room on your trade. Worse still are the suckers (no, I don't mean you), that want out of something that they owe full value on or are maybe even "upside down", and the "friendly dealer" buries the negative equity in the next purchase.

Presto!! Now the poor sap has dug himself an even deeper hole. I know, I sold cars as a kid (pre-internet days), and did well. Now, with the Internet, Cars Direct, Auto Seller, etc. it's much tougher and dealers will do whatever they can to make it happen. Not all are out to rip you off, but unless they are a very high volume dealership, there's just not the kind of profit in cars/trucks that there used to be and the "wiggle room" on sell price or trade in value isn't there.

Now you see why there is no more free this, free that, added on when you bought even a used car 20-30 years ago. Now they want to sell a warranty they make $$$ on, cheesy alarms, paint protection, and some dealerships have even got into the "add on" business of wheels, tires, lifts, lowering, etc etc. that they "helpfully" roll into your loan. They gotta make a buck somehow.
