I would also say a shorter stiffer spring or an overload spring would work better than 5 springs compressed but I am no expert.
Naw, short stiffer springs are worst.
My DJM spings were non progressive and did not sit on each other when loaded. That made for a spring that was the equivalent of riding around on blocks instead of coils. It did ride a good amount better when the rear was weighed down (car packed) and fuel take full though.
The only way to drop these trucks and have a good ride is the use of a progressive coil that has closer wounds. Also, to actually achieve a drop, that coil has to be shorter than the stock. That is the reason why the coils settle down to the point that they are resting on each other.
Causes some noise sometimes but apart from that, it's fine.
