2007 vs 2009 brake upgrade

I preparing to do the NNBS front brake upgrade. I have found many helpful threads and videos. One thing though i have found little info on. Although all 2007-2020 Tahoes seem to use the same rotors and pads, 2007-08 seems to have its own unique part number for front calipers 18FR2246N/18FR2247N while 2009-2020 uses a different one 18FR2659N/18FR2660N.

So what is the difference? They both appear to have dual 2" pistons, and approximately the same configuration. Is the newer one improved in some way? Is the older one somehow more compatible with our NBS brake lines? Does it not really matter? Thanks for any insight!

A few questions about your rig, year, model, drivetrain? What size wheels do you have on now, or plan to have? I had spent a significant amount of time looking to upgrade my '02 Z71 4WD front calipers, as I already had the 2 piston rears. I do not recall the specifics (others can chime in), but came to the conclusion to go with 2009+ front calipers (and e-fans as well). Then, I found out about the 2019-2025 front caliper upgrade. The limiting factor here is you need a minimum 18" wheel for caliper clearance. I'm in the process of procuring wheels and brake parts for that. I also plan on converting to hydroboost soon after. I really like bolt-on OEM upgrade solutions.

I agree about oem upgrades, I have done similar big brake upgrades on past cars including a Camry, Regal, and Forester, all by using oem parts from other models. Mine is a 06 rwd Tahoe, I have upgraded to 17's, but don't think I will go any bigger due to cost. Fortunately I already have efans and hydroboost, but there are still plenty of other upgrades to spend money on.

Did you use nbs or nnbs brake hoses with your 09 calipers?
